Reminds me of Redakai which used the same idea of building cards on top of each other for attack or defense. I remember it used that large container case to help keep the cards laid on top of each other so they don't scatter, etc. I actually thought that game would catch on because they launched a cartoon immediately after the release. I really enjoyed the art work and cool mechanics in that game.

The look is amazing, this game is in reality is solo play in a multiplayer. Hence the fewer players the better really (extra players ONLY add longer playing time and more waiting for your turn). Some of the expansions do add twists like assymetry (individual player powers from a leader etc). That makes more players at least more interesting.

Actually, for me a 3 player count is the sweet spot for player count in a deck builder like dominion, because I like that there might be 3 strategies, or that sometimes the lesser strategy wins because the other 2 players competed for the same strategy and made it a lesser one. I think it's general to other deck builders as well.

hey tom. in the area of new mechanics, have you tried codex card time strategy game by sirlin games? it has mtg roots but it adds new interesting mechanics: it is essentially mtg without its flaws like mana flood, mana screw, luck of the draw, paying to win, expensive rare cards

The card crafting mechanism is neat (looks fiddly though), but other than that it's just another generic "buy the points" game. It reminds me of Keyflower (unique bidding / worker placement mechanism + generic resource management euro).

What are we supposed to do when the sleeves start to split apart along the sides with usage? Are there replacement sleeves in the box, or have they said that expansions will have extra copies of the same sleeves? For the most part, the other clear-card gimmicks used plastic card holders or something sturdier than sleeves to keep the stacks of cards together - this one just seems like a flimsier implementation (just based on the sleeves and cards - not talking about gameplay).

Funny gimmick, but the poor choice of the theme. It needed something which would make combining different things into the one card make sense. Starship construction, or some crazy machines or constructing a castle or whatnot.

Yup, I was just checking before I asked the exact same question. From what I saw I'm assuming no interaction at all? Even "taking a card they wanted" seems diluted by the fact that there isn't a lot of variety in the cards so there's highly likely to be an almost identical card still available.

@Tymbaroth
8 жыл бұрын
I suppose the advantage is that you can basically make one-card combo. You rely more on creating a synergy "inside" the card than assembling good combination of cards. It's in a sense the same idea as deckbuilding but executed differently, with maybe less reliance on luck in order to get the engine going.
@wroot_lt
8 жыл бұрын
Drawing one card is easier than drawing 3 cards that combo with each other. So combo building seems easier here. Also the spacial element matters, which is not a thing in a simple deck builder.
