Every country has certain norms that perhaps are not so normal in other places. It’s good to have these discussions to understand better and become more sensitive to cultural differences 🙌💯🧐🇹🇼

This father ist so damn cool und that was really a good fight back hahahaha.
I really lost it in Danshui once when a woman was touching my kids hair and pinching his cheeks. 😂 She got the EXACT same treatment. But yeah, I don’t think she will EVER do it again (because you never know what crazy person is on the other end).

LoL!!🤭 Sometimes they don't know they can simply use body language to ask if they can touch someone's hair. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, I think it is essential to wash one's hands before touching someone else.
I've never had anyone touch my hair yet, but I pulled it down one day and my little kids jaws dropped. Where I am there's like no foreigners so almost anyone can spot my curly, blonde hair. I can't get away with anything hahahah.
In the States most of the places you are not allowed to carry/drink alcoholic beverages in public spaces, so typically the places that sell you alcohol will put it in a brown paper bag so you can carry it. I was so confused when I came back to Taiwan and saw people drink openly since I grew up in the States.

hahahaha. People always think I am German in Taiwan. One old lady told my wife our son looks more like her, but maybe the next one will look like me. I think it is pretty funny.

我覺得關於男生約會請不請客這件事,有時候說穿了就是對方是你的菜就願意請,不是就各付各 。

Wow, so the spanish people is just like taiwanes, my husband is british, and all my spanish friends love to say that our half blood child would be very cute...Also they usually comment about your aspect, especially if you are not their own race, they will say, oh you have ripped eyes, your hair is soooo smooth, oh you don`t have big ass... XD. A neighbor of mine, an old lady, every time we meet in the lift, she has to touch me and say: You're like a doll :) I love her!!!
I’m Taiwanese. In my generation, men always pay for the date. I was surprised by Helen said that usually go Dutch now.

Maybe it is because equality is more important to our society now?

I think it sounds terrible to say that or even suggest that a guy has to pay for dating a girl. That sounds terrible, doesn't it? I cannot even think of it! Usually when a guy asks to pay for you, that usually involves sexual activities. For instance, if a guy asks me to buy me a beer or a cup of coffee, I would simply say no because I know he's asking for an open relationship.

Once I went to discuss with a super tall American professor in class, and he suddenly swooshed into a 5 year old with an Asian squat 😲 it's kinda awkward because I felt he was probably used to doing this when he talked with his kids 😂

It's not really rude but there is one thing that some Taiwanese people don't do: Hold the door (at an entrance to a building or store for example) for people/strangers behind them. Some may even try to slide in without touching the door, not caring if there are people behind, while someone before them is holding the door open. Maybe because many places have automatic doors installed, this is not really an issue. In some other countries, people will hold the door for you even if you are not directly following them.

I know that there are rude ppl everywhere, but touching someone without permission is too much! As a Taiwanese, I don't take such an inappropriate behavior as something normal. It has nothing to do with cultural difference from my point of view. Some ppl are just rude even though they don't mean it, but it doesn't mean that their behavior should be acceptable. Sorry for what you met. Btw, I think saying someone got fatter is inappropriate, but how about asking someone if s/he is fine since s/he "looks tired"? Is that also rude in your countries? Our even in Europe in general?

However, you don't have to condemn that person or lecture on it. Just kindly say that you don't like it. That's it! I won't comment on how people look for no reason. Usually when you get asked, "Are you alright?" on the street in Europe or in the West more generally, that often means that passersby show their concern because you don't look well.

Just would like to tell Helen that even Taiwanese are shame of the "lady's" behavior! it's super weird that disrespectful !! Besides kids, some people also like to touch pet without permission, it's also rude for me :(
