Fault tripout is NOT transmitter's fault!
Brett, N2DTS took delivery in early July of a Super Senior from Index Labs. It is a 250 watt, frequency agile, purpose-built AM transmitter for use on shortwave by licensed radio hobbyists. The SS is finicky, demanding a near-perfect antenna load, and clean audio & switching lines free of any RF contamination. Finally, after a series of incidents where the protective circuitry activated and knocked the transmitter off the air, Brett has found the problem! He now considers the SS a diagnostic tool.
Top of 40 meter shortwave band, Sunday night, July 22, 2024, we hear the story. Joining us was KC9QJE, also on a Super Senior in an operating envrionment that also had taken some refinement to make the rig happy. Briefly heard at the end was W9BHI as we were signing out.
