I got really tired of staying in the airport pattern and just performing Touch & Goes, but it teaches you a lot. I wasn't allowed to use the engine until we got to the soft field or short field landing practice. Thanks for the video and keep working on the "no engine" approaches!

Shorten your turn to base so you can make the runway if the engine quits. Practice by reducing the power to idle so you know your ability to glide in successfully. I have lots of hours in GA and just ordered my first UL...a new Firefly with an F23. Looking forward to the low and slow.

Ned Davis WB4BKO. Greetings Ken. I am reviewing your videos after a five year absence from the aviation scene due to illness and an accident. Since I have passed and been issued my Basic Med, I am enthused about getting back in the air. I am looking for a single seat light sport or ultralight. Next month (Nov 2021) I will try to look you up and maybe you can give me some advice on what to purchase. 73 for now.

What fun Ken! Nice crisp exhaust note too, tight powerplant. Kind of wary of the vagueness of the stick there, but I've not commanded an aircraft...where fun and fear share the adrenal gland offerings perhaps? Great vid man.

KJ4CTZ de KC4JNS Dude, I'm leaning hard toward getting a kolb as my first fixed wing plane. 4 years on now, what are your thoughts??

Can’t go wrong with a KOLB. Great performing aircraft.

@@KJ4CTZ I'm glad to see you are still monitoring your KZitem channel after 4 years. Lol I always thought it would be handy if a ham would be able to register his call to his plane. Glad to hear you've enjoyed the kolb. I wanna find local instruction and get something incandescent fly from my home field. Been flying PPC and really wanna go further and with someth6not so much like a pendulum. Thanx man

Try flying that pattern about 1/4 closer. The object is so that if that fan stops blowing you can still make the airport easily and surely. When you do that you won't be dragging it in like you are doing. I always liked dragging in the Cessna as it gave me gobs of time to make my turn and get lined up if I entered base late or too shallow. Still it's a bad habit no matter what you fly. What is your approach speed with that bird anyways? It sure has one big beautiful view.

You don't have to land on the number. Looks like you have to fight it lots, more scary than fun.
