What's crack-a-lackin' homie was the funniest thing he ever said. XD. Not to mention the fact that he was in line at a burger joint with that outfit, ordering a southwestern burger with jalapeno jack cheese. Priceless. This theme is calm, and well composed. It shows he is a well disciplined individual devoted to his faith, as well as his family, and country. He's naturally a dick sure, but he went through a lot to protect his family. He distanced himself out of love and care for the family who was in danger, and for the adopted brother he still cared about, to keep him away from the bad things happening underneath the surface. He is good at hiding his emotions very well. He may seem boring, but he has a lot of complexity inside of him.

*SPOILERS* Not gonna lie...I think Nahyuta's a severely underrated prosecutor. His attitude and persona in court so clearly telegraphs his complete resignation of not only being unable to believe in Dhurke and the revolution, but also having to throw whatever principles he used to believe in away to protect his sister. Ga'ran holds Nahyuta so strongly in her clutches that she squeezes whatever faith he had in his father and ideals out of him. The idea of overthrowing the queen seemed so foreign to him because of her power over him, and we see firsthand in court that Nahyuta has long since given up on himself, in favor of "letting go" of the past and "moving on." He genuinely believes that he has no other choice but to give up. And so, he devotes himself entirely to Ga'ran's regime because what else can he do? She singlehandedly banished his father and killed or imprisoned every defense attorney in the country. The idea that anyone could oppose her seemed farfetched. And repeatedly, we see him in court get increasingly more irritated as time and time again, the defense attorneys opposing both him and his worldview refuse to give up when things are at their bleakest. Nahyuta isn't the most fun prosecutor to face in court, but that's because as Apollo, Phoenix, and Athena continue to beat him down, the mask he's built for himself to protect his heart starts to crumble. His lashing out is real, and he pulls some scathing, nasty insults out to try and tear down the people coming dangerously close to tearing away his facade. At first his behavior is annoying, but honestly, recontextualizing it on subsequent playthroughs just paints him in an incredibly pitiful light. His theme, initially standoffish and patronizing, begins to sound nihilistic. He's a man so unwilling to crawl out of the hole he's dug for himself that he'd rather put up an emotional wall to protect himself from those around him. I've heard people say that Nahyuta should have at least shown some kind of sign that he was beginning to come around to a more hopeful way of thinking, but I honestly think that because he waits until nearly the last possible moment to finally place his trust in his foster brother, it makes far more of an impact. He agonizes throughout the entirety of 6-5 over whether or not he should finally stand up for himself and his family, but every time he questions his duty, he reverts back to the Nahyuta that just can't do it. That is, until Apollo relentlessly chooses to pursue the truth in the bleakest possible of circumstances, in which he risks his life for the sake of his father and the revolution Nahyuta had long accepted as dead. Nahyuta goes so far as to take the fall for Ga'ran and sacrifice his own life, but Apollo's continued resilience in spite of even that is what finally pulls him out of his abyss. It's a lot like how Phoenix's, over a decade earlier, did the same for Edgeworth's own self-resignation. I appreciate Nahyuta a lot and think he's got a lot of depth to him, so I very much hope that we'll be able to see him let down his guard a little in a future release and begin to build and rekindle his relationships with everyone in the main cast.

While I can understand why Nahyuta might not be everyone’s favorite, I feel people are generally too hard on him. Pretty much every prosecutor acts like a dick at least once in the game they appear in (as the main rival) but receive character development in the later cases. And Nayhuta is no different. He’s not actually a dick, he’s just under the thumb of a ruthless queen who’s threatening to kill his already broken family. It’s honestly really heartbreaking to me, especially once we see his true self in case 5. I honestly feel the only reason he’s given so much crap is because the first person we defend against him is Trucy, a character we already know and love, so he seems more dickish in our eyes. And then right after that, we defend Maya from him (not like that’s a new concept). The fact that most of the characters we defend against him while he’s in his more dickish state are established mains, people dislike him more than they might if those people had just been one-shot characters for the case they appeared in, like in the case of Turnabout Storyteller. His “holier-than-thou” act is just that. An act. It’s the only thing he can really do to protect the people he cares about, and if you think Ga’ran wouldn’t still have him under strict surveillance while he was in America, you’re mistaken. He wouldn’t still be acting that way if she wasn’t, and she wasn’t stupid enough to not keep him on a leash even while away. Of course he wouldn’t want Apollo involved in all of what was going on, since that would mean another person he cares about in danger. And Apollo would technically be in worse danger than his blood family since A) He’s a lawyer and B) Khuri’an doesn’t need him as vitally as it does his mother and sister, the ones who can channel spirits. Like I said, I’m not demanding that people like Nahyuta as much as I do. I get personal preferences. I just really feel that he gets too much of a bad rep when he really doesn’t deserve it, especially when there are other prosecutors out there who people probably only like as much as they do because of their backstory or their eventual development. So just take the story beats into consideration before you judge Nahyuta. Especially since you can see a difference in just how much happier he is once you reach the end of the game and he’s no longer under threat and has his family back.

SPOILERS FOR CASE 3 Nahyuta pulled off something that Manfred von Karma did once to Phoenix Wright: get the guilty verdict on an innocent defendant. At just a third of von Karma's age, Nahyuta actually fucking pulled it off against a somewhat inexperienced Phoenix Wright (in Khu'rain's courts). What's even worse, is that the circumstances in 6-3 made the guilty ruling more convincing than von Karma's. No forging and no loading of testimonies. Puhray's body *had* to be found to even make a semblance of a solid case against the prosecution's argument. However, like what happened to von Karma, a last minute save was enough to overturn the verdict. It just…scares me to think about what would've happened if the second victim was never found, or at least found days later? Both Maya and Phoenix would've been battered out of their lives, considering how much people hate criminals in Khu'rain. Nahyuta's no slouch holy shit. That case was extremely brutal.

I didnt like him too much as a prosecutor, tbh. They first hyped his abilities like hes some kind of dude who can see into the future, but that never really came into play (though i guess his investigations where kinda thorough and he always had fitting evidence on the ready - which you MIGHT also credit Ema for). Instead, he was just full of insults and physically harms you with his monk beads (what even) rather than having good arguments on the ready. This puts him lower than Edgeworth or Blackquill for me. I do like him as a character though, especially in the final case, and his design and theme song is great. Hes more of a good character than he is a fearsome opponent.

it's a facade that he has some kind of divine wisdom over the outcome of a trial, made possible through withholding information about his true understanding of the case. coupled with his spiritualism and overall presence in the courtroom, it's understandable why he's so persuasive
@Lardo137

It's kind of dumb considering Von Karma did the exact same thing (as in, predicting future avenues of investigation and preparing accordingly) but they didn't make a whole mystical gimmick about it. Even Franziska and Edgeworth did it before Nahyuta did, and it was simply them being smart.

@@Brunosky_Inc I wouldn't say "no entertaining touches". Aside from a few lines, it is always satisfying to see him get beaten down by his own beads. Probably my favorite moment was in the second case where Nahyuta declares that he and Trucy are going to hell but Apollo quickly owns him by pointing out that he's still trying to convict an virtually proven innocent girl resulting in that breakdown I mentioned. It's not really what you meant but there is value in the satisfaction in proving his ass wrong before Case 5.

@@dnmstarsi I definitely agree there! Those were the best parts involving him before the end of Case 5; but entertaintment from knocking him down off his high horse isn't really the same as himself being an entertaining character. Previous prosecutors are both entertaining characters and entertaining to knock down a notch or two. He sure does have the best prosecutor breakdown though. Self inflicted prayer bead shotgun!
@dnmstarsi

@@Brunosky_Inc I agree. Like I said, that's not what you meant in terms of entertainment. He's only amusing there because Wright Everything managed to prove him wrong but until then, most players have to put up with this guy and not in a good way (though Case 5 kinda makes him likable at that point arguably). Edgeworth and the other prosecutors were ones that can be dicks but they were still entertaining and tolerable to deal with it. Same goes for the prosecutors and alike from Investigations and DGS. Even the von Karmas were more entertaining than Nahyuta. Okay, maybe Franziska as opposed to her and her dad.

Having "calm and zen" about a prosecutor is definitely an other type of vibe compared to the usual "seemingly evil and menacing". I wouldn't call him boring at all though, I think out of all prosecutors he was the hardest to face and definitely made you feel like you NEEDED extremely strong assertions for you to progress. The only two other ones I can think of that are somewhat of a pain to face are Van Zieks and Blackquill.
@toddelmsworth640

@@DoodlezMusic the thing is, he treats every argument like it’s one-and-done. He tries to play the “I have all the cards, try me” that Edgeworth has, but he sees himself as absolute, and tries to tell you that you are wrong for thinking the defendant is innocent. Also after these rebuttals he always follows with one of the three following: “putrid-minded lawyer”, [damning someone to whatever childish Hell he conjures up], or “let go and move on.” For me, he falls here, again projecting himself as absolute. The writers could’ve leaned into some aspects from his past, or my favorite, studying the entirety of a single subject in one night that he actually forgot some important case details. The idea that he saw the case as a subject, studied the related subject in full, and he forgot case details, plus what he learned served almost no relevance.

Nah I disagree. His personality of the “holier than thou” type character was incredibly infuriating and a definite change from Simon’s “I’m an evil criminal” mentality. His design brought up ideas of Dahlia Hawthorne (the butterflies, the floating scarf and the light, distant music) so immediately they made him to have you not trust him, to believe that he is a spy for Ga’ran and her little puppet prosecutor until you learn of his true intentions. At least that’s what I thought

Nahyuta is overhated in my opinion I like him I get it he is arrogant and repetitive(he seems like a apollo's Edgeworth) Yes i know he is not the best Not by a long shot For me he is like JFA franziska(annoying,repetitive) If you really dig into him you will realize that he was not doing it because he wanted to And "let it go" -he was that saying about himself(you get a hint in case 5 when he say it,and it actually makes sense if you go back in previous case when he says it) Look I know he is not well written but for me he was better than franziska in JFA(thankfully she developed in later games) I just wish he would go on our side in later cases(even tho that would be risky for him) Let be real here At least he is way better written than Klavier Gavin Also every single prosecutor is a asshole If I had to choose between franzy in JFA and Nahyuta I would chose Nahyuta cause Franzy was more annoying in JFA(again she developed in later games so she is not hated) She had the same problem like Nahyuta(foolish fool-let it go, Whipping non stop-putrid mind And also she was THE SAME thorough the whole game-she had development for like 5 minutes Nahyuta had at least case 5 So before you say anything thst he is the worst Think deeply that franziska was the worst but she is not anymore

The hate is very very much deserved when it comes to the right context, and I think the character was definitely written to be hated as somewhat of an abandoned child being forced to do something he's completely against. That said, he was (imo) the hardest prosecutor to face in any AA game period.
