Activities of the Naija Day event was initiated with a procession within the neighborhood of Freedom Park
on Lagos Island where hundreds of citizens were reached with messages revolving around the
need for national unity and intercultural understanding to prevent reoccurrence of ethnic based campaigns, emotional blackmail, ethnic profiling and disenfranchisement of voters on the basis
of their ethnic identity.
Various instruments - placards, fliers and songs with key messages of unity and peace were
shared and displayed by the crowd representing diverse cultural associations and groups during
the procession. The Esan sons and daughters, Efik Heritage Frontiers and Awori Youth
Associations represented their groups respectively.
