I am curious to see how long it takes a client to decide what colors they would like? Especially with such a vast selection. And then maybe you can show us how your swatch sticks are organized to expedite the process? My inventory is not even close to the size of yours and yet I feel like it can take a while sometimes for my clients to choose what they want.

I don’t let my clients see all the swatches at once. I usually ask them what they’re thinking when they come in, and if they say “pink or purple” I just grab those swatches to show them. ☺️ The clients really don’t have access to the swatches on their own. I also have one ring with all the newest colors, so if they really don’t know I can show them that and see if they like any. ☺️

It’s all about taking control of the appointment. I don’t give clients the freedom so sit and look through every single color and everything in my drawers. We would be sitting there forever 😅 a lot of my clients usually come in with a design or photo in mind, so sometimes it’s just me looking through the swatches to match their photo

Thank you for doing this video! I love seeing how you set everything up. It helps me get ideas on how to organize mine. Also, I love watching all your videos. I am using Akzentz Trinity because of your videos and my clients are loving it! I love the fact that the adhesion is amazing. My clients rarely have lifting now. I would have never heard of or discovered that hard gel if it wasn’t for you. So thank you so much!!

Your setup is beautiful. It’s nice to have privacy while working but when you finish your work open the curtain before you leave so even when you are not there the passants can see your suite from the outside and be tempted to come back or book with you.

I love room tour videos. I love seeing how each person has their own space set up. It also helps give me organization ideas from time to time. Have you ever had a gel polish cure on your rack, from the sunlight? We don't have an IKEA where I live, so I've never been able to check out the Alex drawers, and the ones that I've found online are wayyyyyy too expensive for me right now, but I need to find somewhere to store my gel polishes because they're currently just shoved in my regular desk drawers, which I could use for other stuff because my nail room is VERY small, so there's no space for more storage. I've always been afraid that the sunlight coming through my window would cure my gel polishes if I bought racks and put them on my wall. I've had gel polish start to cure as I was using it because the sunlight was shining directly on my brush as I was painting. I have a blackout curtain now, but it still worries me. Am I worrying for no reason? Lol.

And also, have you ever noticed your gel starting to cure under your lights? I want a light similar to the long slim one, but I currently have a smaller lamp that says it's LED, and I'm afraid to use it while I'm working on an order. I use it for photos, although it doesn't help as much as I would've hoped, but I want one of the long slim ones and I'm afraid of my gels being affected if the bulb(s) end up being an LED type. I apologize for the two long comments, but I'm wanting to reorganize my nail room soon and I have a lot of questions and concerns.

The only time I’ve ever had an issue with gel polishes curing was when I was sitting right next to a window. That was around 6 years ago. And they were curing as I was using them at my desk, not just sitting on the shelf. The gel polish bottles are solid or black in order to block out light, you don’t have much to worry about. ☺️

The LED desk lights won’t cure your products. They are a different type of LED, not the kind that emits the UV rays needed to cure polish. ☺️

Hi Katie, I started my nail tech journey with DND polish a few years back and have a solid amount of colors, but now I want to upgrade to a different brand with better pigmentation and quality. DND’s formula is inconsistent and most times too thin for my nail art work now. I’m overwhelmed by what to invest in, there are so many to choose from. For example, what’s the difference between Akzentz/Luxio, Magpie, and Dgel? I keep thinking if it’s $15 for 1 bottle it’s okay, but if I’m looking to purchase 20+ bottles or work my way up to it, it definitely adds up so therefore I want to be more mindful. Basically I want to know if there is a reason you have more rows of Magpie and Akzentz, and will you be purchasing more of Luxa with the same idea? How and where should I start?
@NailsByKatieDutra
2 жыл бұрын
I would recommend Luxa first because they have such a great consistency, high quality and good pigmentation. Luxio second, their system as a whole is great and has great adhesion, very high quality. Magpie third, they have a great range of colors and unique options, however their consistency is a little bit different and may take a little bit to get used to.

When it comes to the TV and having something on for clients to watch. Do you just leave a show on playing in the background all the time? Or do you let them choose what they want to watch, or if the TV is on at all. I’m new to having my own private salon space, and I don’t have a TV currently but I’m thinking of getting one. And then having it logged into Netflix or Prime so I can have stuff on in the background when myself and/or the client is not feeling chatty.
@NailsByKatieDutra

When I get there in the morning I just pick something to play in the background ☺️ I personally don’t want my clients distracted with using the remote, or us to sit there trying to pick a show. I will pick in the morning and they can either watch or chat 😄
