Nairobi has seven rivers flowing through the City that is the global environmental conservation capital.
We trace the City's primary river, Nairobi river from its source - Ondiri swamp in Kikuyu - to discharge point where it joins Athi river.
Along this journey across Nairobi, we see different faces of the river including waterfalls and parks. But the pollution of a river rising in a major metropolis also becomes evident.
The video highlights rehabilitation and clean up of Nairobi river by individuals and institutions. We profile Michuki park where the park run by Kenya Forest Service as an example of Nairobi rivers potential as a recreational park and non-motorized pedestrian walkway across Nairobi.
With seven rivers flowing West to East across different sections of Nairobi, a non-motorized transport system along all these rivers could be a reality in future. But instead of one riverine corridor, Nairobi could have seven, a unique and arguably unprecedented fete in urban geography.
Enjoy the journey across Nairobi and let us know in the comments which part of the city you've interacted with Nairobi river. @Kenyan Geography
