Did you hear that folks! Kelsey is good. She’ll be ready for Sunday. From that moment I think Sides probably thought, no way am I letting anyone get really hurt. It was great for the bench to get all those minutes too. If someone does get hurt in the playoffs, it is next player up.

The bench did well to close the large gap in the 4th qtr, yet missed many points at the end, which cost Fever the game. Player rotation throughout was baffling and the pace of the game was slowed with too much dribbling by the bench players. Still at least players got some court time.
@dmar191
4 сағат бұрын
I thought the same about the player rotation. Sides just mailed that one in and decided she wasn’t going to manage the game at all, just toss in players, never call timeouts during big runs, and see what happens.

Excited to see the Fever in the playoffs! I don’t know if there are designated double teams , or if the players are collapsing instinctively when the opposition drives toward the hoop, but the defenders have to stay home when they’re guarding a three-point shooting threat!!! (Especially playing if Connecticut in the playoffs) Poise and discipline! Not only are these girls, young and talented, but they have heart! It’s amazing that the Fever have three bona fide scorers in CC, AB, and KM!

The bench all you are praising gave up the 20 - 2 lead in rhe first place. At one point the bench had every player that had played at - 16 to - 27. It was the bench players that never play at all that sparked the comeback Wallace, Saxton and Berger. Wallace had 17 but was a -15 in the game. The Fever bench is the weakest bench in the W. Hope Kelsey is going to be 100%. They still don't guard the 3 worth a damn. The starters looked great in the first 5 minutes and then Side started mass substitutions.

I saw it differently. For this game, a win wouldn't have changed Fever's playoff status. There were a couple of important things the coach did here: 1. Avoid risking injury to the starters by minimizing their time on the floor 2. Give the starters a light level of exertion so they can go into sunday's game rested 3. Make sure the bench is ready to play so they can sub in as needed during the playoffs

Sides took a triple double from CC. Her halftime stats were halfway there. And the other teams who already locked playoff spots didn’t tank a game pull their starters out while losing in the second dang quarter. What kind of BS was that? You want your starters coming off of a win and a great performance. Won’t be another situation where the entire bench is in. Rotating in yes, but not all five. I will say the bench played better D than the starters. Also, so sad for the biggest crowd in the W who came to see CC and didn’t get to.
