The wreckage of a 500-year-old Portuguese ship filled with gold coins was unearthed by diggers from diamond giant De Beers in 2008. Archaeologists have confirmed the wreckage is that of Bom Jesus, a ship that set sail from Lisbon in 1533 and disappeared near the Namibian diamond mining town of Oranjemund. Since then, the Namibian government and DeBeers have been cataloging the find.
