Horns, not antlers :) Antlers are branched and generally found on members of the cervid family :) Horns exist on many hoofstock ruminants, and they are bony protrusions that do not branch :) Not trying to be a dick just politely correctly :)

@@azurehue2248 You are indeed correct sir! Yes, antlers are made of bone and can have a covering of skin at times, and are almost always shed each year, whereas horns are covered in keratin, generally aren't. And just to put things to right even further, Giraffes have "ossicones" which are permanently covered in skin and fur. Thanks Dick. 😉

One of these giraffes is covered in lumpy things. Are the animals followed up by vets? Seems a shame if they're not, seeing as how we're benefiting from watching them. I hope whom ever owns this camera puts money towards the animals' health too. Love this channel, and I am very grateful to be able to see these things. Maybe consider a 'donate' option for us to help with the animals' health.

A bit of searching says that this is a papilloma virus, spread by birds pecking ticks off them. It isn't life threatening in itself, but the lumps can get itchy and if a wound is opened by scratching it can lead to infection.

@@melindastclair He really doesn't look very well at all with what ever is going on. That can't be good. And since it's a virus and passed on by birds, then it could go through the population. That would be disastrous.

We thought about the watering hole, would it be possible to make concrete channels like a plus sign, then various species can drink at the same time or will there be too much evaporation? Even this being an old video, it is great to see the wild life coming for water. These cameras are wonderful, it gives an opportunity to many viewers to enjoy animals in their natural environment.❤

@normanwells2755
2 жыл бұрын
It is man made and maintained by a company which operates lodges nearby and uses this channel for promotion. A well, behind the camera, fills a separate reservoir and water drains from that reservoir to this water hole. A live feed is available if you click on the name of the channel. The geographic coordinates are -24.074923 15.887410. Google street view provides images, coming as close as that sign you see about a hundred feet out just to the left of the water hole. Other images are available from a drone showing how green it gets after their summer rains.
