Really enjoyed hearing your thoughts. And the bold, rich ink is really great. Love that little bottle too.

Thanks for the review. I've been using Pilot Iroshizuku Take-Sumi as my black ink, but I see you can buy a 350ml bottle of Pilot Namiki Black for the same price of 50ml of the Take-Sumi. And based on reviews like yours, it's a no-brainer. Seven (7) times the volume for the same price and great workhorse back ink (I use black exclusively, yes, boring, but that's me). I won't be buying anymore black ink any time soon.

I'd never thought much about Pilot's standard black ink until recently when I was forced to use a cartridge (Con-40 + a juicy Vanishing Point = poor flow) and was impressed enough that Pilot Black is my new go to black ink.

Received my first bottle of this today. I'm normally all about other inks including Iroshizuku but after being impressed by the dirt cheap 50 billion gallon bottles of Pilot/Namiki blue/black, I thought I'd give these squat bottles a try. I now have blue and black ones. Do you know if this is the same ink that you find in the standard black cartridges shipped with most Pilot low to midrange pens such as the Prera? I've rarely used them and have built up a massive stash, but have often wondered what's actually in them.

I’ve actually always wondered that myself but have not confirmed as such. I will try to hunt that down.

Until I discovered Diamine Onyx, this was my favourite ink. It's blacker than the Pilot black, so a different formulation.

I got that ink in cartridge box form as a freebie for my Pilot Penmenship. That said, I hate it. It expands and feathers like crazy in my planner (it handles Noodler's just fine) and most papers I tried. It also loves to bleed to the other side. Only pro to me is the water resistence. My tests got the same result you did.

I would like see your thoughts on the Seitz-Kreuznach line of inks. I got a sample of Tundra Green and it's one of the least workhorsiest looking colors I've seen behave like a workhouse.

Is it safe to mix w/ Pilot blue... I'm not a big fan of regular blue but have 2 bottles of the Namiki Blue from pen orders I need to use up?

I haven’t tried so I’m slightly leery about saying yes. Do a small batch to test would be my recommendation and also try it in a pen that is easy to clean if it doesn’t work out.

It's usually safe to mix inks from same Brand and series/line. But did it work for you?
