I have Peavey Vypyr VIP1 and Line 6 POD HD and I use both for home recording. The sound of Vypyr is much more natural, crisper and very high fidelity, it really beats POD HD hands down. The POD HD allows to have two amps chain and different speaker emulations where Vypyr VIP1 doesn't. However, I am ready to buy the new Vypyr Pro as soon as it will come out. Again, because of the sound quality and the features. Vypyr is ideal for home recording, both mic and silent. For those who are saying that Vypyr doesn't sound natural or lacks sound texture, etc. I would recommend to go to your local guitar store and try it. I think Peavey really dropped the ball promoting this amp because there is not even one high quality video that would demonstrate sound captured in studio, not some video camera mic. Actually Ola Englund has one with Vypyr VIP15 and its an old model, check it out, I say it sounds good, really good.

Well, except for a quick shot and the price mention, zero info on the pedalboard which will probably be needed to unlock all the features of the amp as has been with previous Vypyr models.

Wow, that seems like a really cool amp!!!! I wish I would've known about this before I bought my VIP 3, the VIP 3 is a really good amp but that the pro seems to be a better amp. More expensive... But better I really wanna try the four different amps at once thing and I have always wanted an overdub looper instead of the looper on the VIP 3

How many times is this wheel going to be reinvented? I understand the price point however. They had to pay someone in the R&D department to reverse engineer a 20 year old line 6 spider. Keep trying Peavey. One day you will have an original thought.

I just don't hear anything here that me say, "Wow, gotta get one!" Actually sounds a little on the weak side but maybe that's just in the recording.

I love Peavey stuff... But wow... $499 + $300 for that rig? If it had great midi and studio I/o you could pass on the pedal and use another controller in studio... But I don't think it's ideal for live... Maybe a head version with separate cabinet?

300 just the footswitch? No thanks, I'll buy a VIP when they go on sale.

Must be the mic as too mid-range with no high end. Now personally I have clearly heard this pristine clear with some of the best analog distortion around. But this demo is no highlight.

I heard they sound like crap if actually used in a band situation. Sound turns to mud if cranked in un mic'ed setting. ???

Get a tube amp and your own pedal set up. $499 + $399. No one is going to buy that when you have so many other better options for much less and better sounding amps that are tubes. Nice try Peavey but you will fail with this amp and pedal at that price.

I'm not sure why you think that. The point is it's an extremely versatile amp, which appeals to a lot of people, and it probably sounds a lot better in person than this video makes it sound like. I have a VIP 2 and this video sounds like crap and their video of the amp I have did as well, but the actual amp in person not even loud sounds amazing. Also, this isn't a tube amp. Tube amps are more fragile and harder to travel with because tubes can break etc. Again, there is a market for these amps that you tube lovers don't understand.

Great concepts but as for recommendations.......meh.....less is more l believe. Who wants to drown in a sea of choices, but for self indulgence, yeah why not (if you have time to fiddle, but for me it would cut into my practice time which I badly need) After all the ultimate aim is to entertain others and would a crowd in a pub give a rat's a** if you use British crunch or not? You can deliver killer blows to the crotch with your axe without all this gadgetry. Hey even an old Marshall has just about an infinite number of tone settings! Add to this the subtle effects of our personal technique on tone.........

Most of the features like the looper can't be accessed unless you have the pedal. So in my opinion it's not worth it for the money.

It's best to use a foot pedal to control start and stop functions. VERY difficult to time everything right when you have to remove your hands from guitar, locate and press a button on the amp. Very dumb reason to write the amp off just sayin.

Steve K No it's not. Putting a function that's only accessible with the purchase of an additional product isn't fair. Include the pedal or make the feature operable without it too. Sure it's easier to use the pedal to control certain functions but you should still be able to control those functions without having to shell out another $100 - $200.

ElectraOmega Sorry Electra, I don't buy it. You can't make accurate loops by taking your hands off the guitar and pressing a button. Loop control with a footswitch is CRITICAL to getting the timing down and being able to overdub. What other amp has looper control on the front panel?

It sounded so thin and scooped... I hope that was just their EQ. Price? Laughable.

Yeah it sounds like garbage in this video, but so do most modelling amps websites demo. They just don't know how to EQ it properly. I have a VIP 2 and it sounds way better than this video. They obviously didn't put enough bass on it. (Among other things.)

Thank you, we now know your opinion. Modelling is the future, better embrace it eventually. (Especially when the more expensive stuff like Axe-FX and the Kemper amps sound exactly like the real thing.)

Songwriter4God Modeling amps have a long way to go. Especially for live use. I'd rather have a good analog solid state amp like a Pathfinder.
