Most common phrase in music tech: “This Guy”. ZZZZzzzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzz : ) Although fun to see, thanks Nick. When Tobias says “small” company compared to e.g. Elektron, keep in mind TE has 31 employees and Elektron has 40. They both have similar revenue but TE has a higher profit. (2017) “Small” is very relative. But I'm sure Tobias probably meant Korg rather than Elektron : ) Nick, I hope you had the chance to get a private chat with Jesper as well... Should be interesting to watch an interview with him-and with David-about early years, Elektron collaboration, Acne and so on. -

Would Cuckoo have as many fans if he strictly made music and didn't highlight gear? Why are his Jams focused on gear instead of the performer? Why? Because he is a salesman, an AD man fro Teenage Engineering. Gaz said it best in chat a while back, I can't see anyone wanting to listen to Cuckoos "Beeping" music for the pure pleasure of just listening.

I love TE stuff...but it erks me basically EVERYTHING on their site is sold out or unavailable within days. The only thing you can get are the PO’s. Us normal poor musicians need to save up for these things...and we can...save up that is...but it takes time. If you don’t have the doe in the three days they’re on sale you’re SOL. I’ve wanted and OD-11 for years but every time I have enough money to buy one they’re gone. I got my OP-1 on CL along with some PO’s and an OP-Lab. Never from the site. I know they’re a small company and some of you will troll and bitch that “they’re small...they don’t have big production blah blah...if you don’t have the cash then don’t complain blah blah” but I’ve seen way smaller companies put out decent amounts of stock. I think they do it purposely to create the “myth”, but to me it has the opposite annoying effect.

This is pretty, but I fail to see any clear advantage to it. Assembly is unforgiving of any mistake, battery and speaker included but unit isn't all that portable, not expensive but there are cheaper entry levels on the market already. Design seems to be the main selling point. I'm sure it will find an audience, but it's not for me.
@iy42
5 жыл бұрын
xTheOxx Since I’m not in modular at all, I’m curious if you have any examples of cheaper entry level stuff that is an entire modular setup like the 400? I’m sure it’s very limiting to people already in modular but I got the idea it might actually be a good starting point for beginners considering it’s rather “complete” setup?
@xTheOxx
5 жыл бұрын
@@iy42 I'm of a mind that semi-modular synths (e.g. the Behringer Neutron, or the very recent Korg Volca Modular) and software modular (VCV Rack, Arturia Modular V) are better entry points than this to explore and figure out if you want to delve deeper. The low price on individual modules from TE sounds great, I just don't get the appeal of the 400 beyond its looks.
@iy42
5 жыл бұрын
xTheOxx Thanks for the info! My only experience with modular is playing around with VCV Rack so I think even though something like the Neutron is probably a better starting point there’s still something attractive about the modular platform that I was hoping TE could provide a good entry into. I’d be curious to see a comparison between the 400 and an AE modular specd out to the same price.
