We bought this camera because they didn’t not require a subscription to use their breathing monitor, however the company was recently sold and are not requiring a $10 months subscription on top over the very pricey product. Now it is as if we bought a $400 camera and cannot use any of the features we paid for when we bought it!

We bought the Miku but found it had lackluster video quality and often caught the dog breathing more than the baby (she often wasn't even in the crib but it was still detecting breathing). It also had many false alarms. We returned it and went with nanit which we love and the picture quality is terrific. At first I was turned off by having to lock on to the baby each time but it is second nature now and it also ensures that I check the app is working properly and it's connected. I also had a ton of app crashing with Miku and it wasn't connected very much.

Can you do a review and comparison vs Nanit Pro and breathing analysis?

Great comparison! This is about a month late for us as we were struggling between the two for a while. Ultimately, we chose the Miku for the advanced tech as we didn't want to deal with wearables or locking on each time we take the baby in and out of the crib. However, we were weary based on the mixed reviews of the camera and app. But I can happily report after a few weeks of use we have not had any issues and it has been rock solid! While the sleep insights don't seem to be as rich as Nanit, we don't have any regrets so far with the Miku!

By biggest question for any of these choices is if they can reliably do what the marketing says they can do. If you're getting false positives, the breathing tracking very quickly becomes much less useful. I'm also hesitant to buy the Nanit because I don't know if my kid will like their specific sleepwear. At this point, I just don't think I'll use any breathing tracking. It seems like cool tech, but I just don't trust that it will work correctly and it will introduce more stress, not decrease it. I mayyyy still go with the Nanit and not use breathing tracking, but that's so expensive for what it is.

Got the Miku and floor stand and find it odd that its a mix of items that determines breathing yet it thinks my foot off camera moving qualifies as breathing. Was able to make it follow the pattern. Wrote Miku and they just stated it could pick up breathing within 6 feet but nothing about how a foot breaths lol. Also ours doesn't alarm with baby removed and struggles to start up. You'd also think you could play through the Playlist instead of one admittedly good song on repeat.

Hi, I read several reviews on Amazon about the Nanit Swaddle not being tight enough and band riding up towards baby's face, casing a chocking hazzard... Sounds really scary and dangerous. Also can the band be worn under a sleeping sack? My baby will be born in May, but I like putting my older kids in sleeping sacks when it got colder. Happy if any has any insights that can help me decide. Such a tough decision!
@Fathercraft
3 жыл бұрын
As long you are putting the belly band on properly it would be extremely difficult for a baby to maneuver the band up and over their face. The band wraps around the belly and therefore under the arms. A baby would have to put her arms under the band and then force it up half her body to cover her face. To your second question, the band and sack have to be visible to the camera in order for the breathing monitoring to work.

Your written review says it's 720p and some other sites say its 720p too. The also say "HD" Video on their website, rather than "FHD" but do say it does up to 1080p at 30fps.

I can't talk about the nanit as I have not experienced hands on with it but the miku was an absolute life saver for us as new parents. We live in Aus and purchased miku on Amazon and best $600 we spent!!! Speaking from experience, the sensors are so accurate and sensitive that we put the capsule with the rain cover on and picked her breathing pattern. Build quality is superb and the rolling ball to adjust the camera position is made of metal pieces and if for some reason someone smacks it with a mattress while changing the sheets (eg my partner) you can just tight thr screws and its good to go. No subscription fees plus it just works!!! Make sure you have a decent wifi router with 2.4GHz Bandwidth as miku doesn't support 5GHz. Once we are ready for number 2 we are keeping an eye for a sale to purchase a second monitor.

I understand breathing monitoring would certainly be impossible at this time when using a Snoo. What is your experience when combining these products?

@@Fathercraft maybe I had a defective unit but here has been my experience: 30s to connect to the device to view video, while the Nanit is 2-3s. I have a gigabit internet connection with 200mbps wireless speeds. The miku app crashed over night when running in the background which is infuriating when you realize it’s no longer tracking and who knows how long your baby has been crying. This has happened multiple times. Activities miss many of the events that actually happen so the day/night summary wasn’t accurate. The “no movement detected” alert has so many false alarms as it’s not always able to detect if the baby is away even with an empty crip. So many false alarms that we ended up having to turn it off defeating the whole point of a sensor less camera based system.

If an app isn’t stable enough to provide background audio monitoring, then it’s inexcusable as a baby monitor no matter the bells and whistles. The nanit background audio has been rock solid, connection is quick and the night mode is handy. The miku has a better camera, better speakers, and easier breathing tracking but that’s eclipsed by the fact that it’s unable to provide reliable monitoring.

I absolutely HATE the nanit. We've had it for well over 6months now and it is constantly disconnecting. And yes we have checked our Wifi 1000 times. I've emailed them countless times and they just tell me to unplug it and let it sit for awhile. That shouldn't have to be a thing in order for it to work. The most frustrating part is that it always seems to disconnect or get really crappy feed when my son is moving and having a bad night. You know, the most important times I need it to be working. Also, for almost $300 only having 780p is ridiculous. Our cocoon had 1080p and the breathing reading for way less. That one had some connection issues too but way less than the Nanit.
