I mean I get not trying to justify what Pablo did but it would be really stupid if we just said Police are good, Pablo bad. Here's how I intemperate Pablo, it's the same interpretation I have with The Godfather films. It's about the lies we tell ourselves, no one sees themselves as the bad guy, no one.

I think Narcos portrayal of Pablo was pretty accurate. it's not like they sugar coated what he was actually like. They were actually pretty good at showing Pablo's cruelty and ruthlessness. The worst people in human history have been good family guys. The problem is to think bad are just bad and good are just good. Everything is much more complex, and each one's perspective can change a lot the perception of how each person is. If you knew really bad people's circumstances, you can almost understand them in a way. The main point is that that, doesn't justify any of their crimes. A person responsible for the death of more than 10.000 people can never fucking ever be a good person, regardless he takes care of his family and friends. If you see it from his perspective, he looks almost just a business man that takes care of his people. If you see it from a colombian dead's family perspective...then perception changes, don't you think?
@colonelcarrillo5131

Practically everyone has more love and affection for those closest to them, those being family. It's harder and rightfully so to feel the same way towards strangers and people you've never even met. Of course Pablo took it to the extreme and instead of simply not caring about strangers, he callously took their lives.

Although Pablo wouldn't surrender, this scene represents his reality check. Even if it's in his own imagination, Gustavo appears to tell him that they are criminals and that he will not rebuild his empire and subtly advise him to surrender. It also reminds Pablo that everything went to shit because of Gustavo's death. He was the only one that would say no to him and would remind him that he is only a man. You can see in Pablo's face how he misses Gustavo when he says he ate Che Guevara. All this emotion in one expression, great acting.

@fabRic_jAck But the only reason he was caught is because he talked too long on the phone with his son on his birthday, perfectly aware of the possible surveillance. Nothing justifies his terrible deeds, but nonetheless.

That "everyday of my fucking life brother" line gets to you so much if you've lost someone important to you, it resonates with you. I lost my brother to an OD/suicide and I remember some time after he died it was just like this. We were on a bench on a mountain looking over the sea. We were just talking, catching up. Laughing like real brothers, its as if I was really talking to him. The last thing I told him was "I think about you everyday brother." He said "I miss you too." That's the last thing we said to each other in that dream, or at least what I remember. But it's the greatest gift I've ever been given.

This part is deep because when Pablo got his ice cream and walked to the Plaza he realized how an amazing place Medellin was and how nice people were, he felt remorse because he had ruined something beautiful , his own home.

One of the most beatiful scenes I´ve ever seen in a show. I mean, literally just beautiful. They way Pablo slightly hesitates before telling Gustavo how much he misses him and how much his death affected him. That very second shows how weak this man has become and how much he wishes to turn back the clock. He knows he has failed but he still won´t admit it. That´s such a dramatic mixture. Love this scene.

the eerie silence after Gustavo gets up and leaves drags down Pablo and the viewers to reality where he was sitting alone. he didn't disappear out of thin air, but instead, he slowly walks off-screen.

Pablo was a murderous piece of shit monster who deserved to be taken down, but it's moments like this, when he's with his cousin, or with Tata, or with his kids, that I genuinely liked the guy and actually thought he's not such a bad guy. Then he'd go a blow up a plane or a city block a scene later.
