Hi Paul, Liz & Ernie. As one of your subscribers I enjoy following your travels round the waterways. My wife and I love the countryside and are CRT supporters. We’ve walked along the towpaths up and down the country from the K & A to Llangollen, Stratford, Anderson boat lift and many other places. I was pleased to hear you were at Bugsworth and will look forward to your next vlog. We have caravanned in Marple and have explored all the Peak Forest canal. The views are lovely with many interesting walks. Sadly now in our 80s our walking days are over and vlogs like yours give us much pleasure and reminders of places we’ve been. Keep up the good work.

In the beautiful country of the North where I spent much of my early years, watching the fishermen between congleton and Marple with my uncle Vic. I left these shores 57 years ago to make a life in Tasmania on the other side of the world. Visited from time to time and enjoyed coffee or hot chocolate at the boatyard/chandlry at higher Poynton and Aye a few pints the the Boars Head. Well this is the second time i've posted this, I think the tube is playing silly buggers because I criticised the PM. That's a very scenic canal your on. Paul we all make silly mistakes. When I first started boating (outboard engine) I was a mile away from my moorings and couldn't get the engine started again, so I pulled it by hand a mile back to my moorings. Tried like you the batteries, wiring, fuel. Only after about four hours scratching my head to find the reason it wouldn't start was because it wasn't in neutral! haha :) Did I feel like a dipstick? oh yeahhhh! lol :) Yeah both of you are now seasoned boaters and I think you could tackle anything thrown at you now. Cracking vlog as always from you three :) Supposed to be a heatwave due end of the month? Sent you something on the Book you might find useful.

Hi Andrea, your earlier to watch this one this week I usually reply to your comment in the morning as it comes through when we're in bed usually. The homes along the canal are lovely and you get to see some charming character in each of the gardens. Paul's still kicking himself about the wire but at least it wasn't a major fault and we've learnt yet another lesson 🤣 it was lovely having family on the boat and having Dodger the dog play with Ernie. Dear Liz, Paul and Captain Ernie, Paul don't feel bad about overlooking the connection, it happens to the best of us. At least it wasn't something serious like a burnt out solenoid or starter. Captain Ernie I notice that dogs and cats, which travel on the canals, don't seem to have registration tags. How do registration tags work on your side of the world? For us, in theory in Alberta, dogs and cats do require a tag. Definitely looking forward to next weeks adventure, TTFN. Mark Alberta, Canada
@uponreflection

Hi Mark. Every dog in uk must be microchipped and also must wear a tag with owners details, phone number on etc. Ernie has got a tag on his collar and his collar always stays on even when inside the boat just incase something happens and he has to get off the boat quickly. 😊

Arrr, 'twas the crack o' dawn, round 'bout 7 bells, when the long-haired admiral herself be perched on the stern deck, clutchin' her mug o' pirate grog-ye know, that mystical brew they call "coffee." She’s tossin’ crumbs to the swans like they be her personal crew, while ol' Rufus the mutt sat there, eyes glued to the enchanted box where Ernie, the dog pirate king, made his daily appearance. Rufus, bless 'im, loves that scallywag. Out from below deck stumbles the captain, hair wild as a storm, lookin' like he'd been wrestlin' with sea demons in his sleep. He rubs his eyes, hears voices, and squints at the admiral. “Who in blazes be ye talkin’ to this early, lass?!” says he, scratchin' his head like a barnacle-riddled mast. “Ain’t no one we know mad enough to be out on the towpath at this hour… least not without rum involved.” The admiral smirks, pointin' at the flickerin' screen. “Nay, Captain,” says she, “it be Rufus watchin’ his show. Seems he’s got more friends on the high seas than ye do!” The captain just grumbled somethin’ ‘bout “talkin’ mutts” and stumbled off to find his own brew, leavin’ the admiral to her swans and Rufus to his doggone entertainment.
