You're not wrong just not exact. Succour is more precise and remember that Arabic is very hard to translate to English even prominent scholars & translators like Ali often get these words wrong. Tupac was severely missed at that point in rap music - Nas had the right thoughts, but he just wasn't the personality that 2Pac was, not as nearly as offensive. When Nas is being asked something here, he's like "I want to keep my thoughts to myself, but I'll answer because you asked".... whereas 2Pac was like "I'll tell you what I think, plus I'll tell you what YOU should think, and I'll respond as if you asked me 5 different questions".... A good example is here at 4:30 - the host wants to know badly what "Nas Escobar" means, and Nas is like "Nothing man, just a nickname, not worth the question, let's go to the next question"...... If he had asked 2Pac what "Makaveli" means, the response would've been quite different. I guess in a way people were looking for a new 2Pac and were hoping that one of the other rappers would do the same, but it just wouldn't happen. Rappers at that time were like priests, and 2Pac just happened to be the most charismatic priest you could imagine.

Well, you do realize Pablo Escobar was a known drug kingpin? So Nas probably didn't want to get on a non hip hop show and say that he got his nickname from a drug dealer, seeing as how rappers already have a bad rep and are looked at very negatively. Whereas Nikolai Makaveli was a philosopher, so it wouldn't have been frowned upon if Tupac talked about where he got his nickname from.
