Great review! This is one of my favorites. Smells like the color purple to me almost has a dark grape syrup. Very similar to Gucci Intense Oud and not as challenging as what I've read about it.

I am wearing it right now, two sprays from the store on my arms and hands. I somehow disagree it is a linear fragrance. The opening and the dry down are a bit different; the opening is kind of have that off putting part with the herbal, incense, cannabis note, but the drydown gets so appealing, smoky, sexier, and sweeter. My mother did not like it at all during the first hour but actually ended up loving it in the drydown
@SeldomlyOften

@@bubukill1 well, these are all relative terms, to me it’s linear compared to other stuff like a lot of Amouages. All fragrances change to a degree and usually get smoother as they dry but some are really mean to transition to various “stages” or even vibes.

You mentioned you wear way more daring fragrances to work, could you share some examples? Cheers ✌🏼

Amouage Overture Man, Amouage Fate Man, Nishane Sultan Veriver and other strong weird scents. BA is pretty mainstream for what it is, and it’s awesome because of that 😊

Such a distinctive scent for me. Had the Perfumer Parlour version long ago and ended up...dropping the bottle. Yeeeah. Which broke. Which I ended up having to mop up. Let's just say that scent lingered and now it's impossible NOT to recognize it. 😆 Luckily, like you said, it's not too challenging AND it wasn't the original so it wasn't a biggie. They did get pretty close though. A great take!

Thanks for the comments! Most Nasomattos are built-up with marketing to make them seem more intimidating 👍

Do you know if this fragrance has been reformulated in the past three years?
@SeldomlyOften

There are rumors about it being reformulated. I’m not certain. I have a recent bottle and the fragrance is pretty strong, not the strongest in the world but will easily last a full day.

According to the brand (that issued a sort of official statement some time ago) it hasn't. But, some older Gualtieri aficionados swear that the differences are there. I own a recent batch and love it has it is. Sometimes that reformulation "itch" that the fragrances lovers are experiencing it's just time consuming and sterile and spoils the simple joy of the experience and the appreciation of a scent as it is
@SeldomlyOften

@@Tony-os6ib I absolutely agree. Ultimately there is nothing we can do about it. If you like the fragrance, great, if you don't, move on. This is regardless of reformulations :)

@@Tony-os6ib I actually purchased a recent batch and owned a batch during Covid. The Recent batch has a burst spray nozzle instead of long release also the juice has was less longevity and projection. Really sad they killed that fragrance it was my favorite.

Nasomotto Black Afgano is overhyped , in my opinion. Not worth the cost. At the end of the day you are left with a smell of sandalwood lingering around you , at 10 times the cost of a normal sandalwood perfume.
@SeldomlyOften

@@DrMohanRanawade I do agree that it is presented as this complex, unwieldy beast and at the end of the day it’s really not. That being said, you have to also consider that this was released in 2009 where the exotic fragrance landscape was much different in western culture. I think it’s ok, not my favorite but far from being the most overpriced product out there.
