I love the tone of that 14x8! Nice and buttery to my ear. And what a beautiful finish

Great and detailed review of these Natal snares. I did like the 14×5.5 the best. I'd love it if you did a Mapex Black Panther line review.

That 13x6.5 and 14x5.5 tie up for my favorite in the bunch - the 13 could tune up higher, crack and still have some body, while the 14x5.5 seemed to hit like a ton of bricks.. The other 2 were OK and warm, but not to the same degree as the1st pair.. Great review again guys!

As a counter to your endpoint, I use a 13x6.5 Natal maple originals and love it! I find it to be super characterful and fun to use as a cheap alternative to a Yamaha Steve Jordan.

+Drummer's Review My preference by quite a bit was for the 14x5.5 as well. Very nice sound and look to that drum. But generally, I like using a more sensitive snare side head...a Remo Diplomat for instance, with that Evans Power Dot or the Remo Controlled Sound Reverse Dot Coated head. I know that with this many drums that it gets quite involved and lengthy to produce these reviews, but I would still liked to have heard a CROSS STICK sample for all of these. IMO it's a staple and important sound for consideration when purchasing a new snare. FANTASTIC review otherwise! I greatly appreciate the Sound & Video Quality of your reviews. 👍

For what it's worth I'd ditch the Evans heads and replace them with Remo coated Ambassadors which would let the sound breathe a bit more. They sounded a bit choked to me.

matt g not true. There’s a reason all the leading recording studios in the world prefer Remo over Evans

The second hand market in Australia for Natal, is unfortunately poor. They just aren’t well known.
