A Very Long Time Ago..
Sage Patanjali wanted to see shiva, so he made a visit to his abode.
At the entrance, nandi & bhRngi, shiva's chief attendants didn’t let him in.
To teach them a lesson, Patanjali composes a hymn without feet and horns.
Thus, symbolically cutting out nandi & bhRngi's feet and horns to humiliate them,
and making Shiva appear and dance to his tune without nandi & bhRngi's help.
Since the hymn dint have charaNa (feet) i.e., long vowels like का की कू etc and
dint have shRnga (horns) like in के कै को कौ etc. this hymn is called
charaNashRngarahita Shri naTarAja Stotram.
The lyrics of this are beautifully written in a predefined pattern of sound. It had been a dream project for me to learn this and compose this as my little mind directs it. I am happy to share this on an important day of World Yoga day & World Music day as a tribute to Sage Patanjali. Hope you guys like it.
