Nathan has done a sterling job of performing his own material in his own way lately, all the while paying appropriate homage to the mighty legacy his father left.

I used to sing this song driving an open-air tractor up and down the long fields. Farmers really think about this stuff. I don't know how, but Stan just knew. Just as well I couldn't finger pick because I never learned to steer with my feet. Thanks for the music. I'm hearing it all for the first time again for the second time, if that makes any sense. I used to write to Valery too. ;)

One of my favorite folk songs for decades - even though Stan had already passed when I first heard it in the 80s.. I used to play it on my guitar as a camp counselor.. What a find this is, awesome that this is his son !

This was the first song I heard Nathan play... and I couldn't believe my ears, because someone was singing a Stan song and not ruining it for me!

What a worthy heir to his fathers legacy. Such a brilliant talent. A staple on many playlists sine the algorithm brought me here from foghertys cove.

My grandfather was an Iowa farmer. I always think of him when I hear this song

:) That's very awesome. Stan sang a lot of the families that moved west in Canada when the economy collapsed and changed closing factories and refineries, leaving many little choice but to take up farming or working the oil fields in Sasketchewan and Alberta.

If I'm not much mistaken, he's about a quarter octave higher than Stan... but the similarity of tone is scary.

@@vikingblood0408 Yeah, Stan was massive, I saw photos of him at Nate's house. You're not going to get that bass in your voice, unless you're seven feet tall and thick like a grizzly -like Stan was and his heart matched his stature in height

@@danh3075 I saw Stan as well at a coffee house on Bay St. just south of Bloor when he was just getting started out. Toronto was good back then! Lots of great bands came through in those days.
