@@wperkins3407 Hmmmm. From what I know, military bases used sirens such as the Federal Signal Modulator, ASC i-Force, Whelen Omnidirectional (WPS), or maybe an ATI HPSS-16/32. In some bases, rotational sirens would be used. In Davis Monthan AFB, They formerly used a system of WPS-4004s, while in Altus AFB, they also formerly used a system of WPS-3000s. These were called the giant voice system and they also replaced bugle players by playing a pre-recorded bugle call throughout the day rather than having a real bugle player or a band (for the national anthem at 5pm).

Before the national anthem is played it's common for them to play a bugle call called "Retreat." This bugle call serves as a signal for all military personnel that the National Anthem is about to play and to come to attention and render appropriate honors as the American flag.
