Landholders impacted by the 2019 Cudlee Creek bushfire are learning how native grasses can help reduce bushire risk. They’ve toured a demonstration site in Lobethal, in the Adelaide Hills, which is looking at how site preparation can influence the establishment of native grass pastures in different situations, with nine different preparation methods being examined by the project. Thanks to Luke and Aylwen Denis who are hosting the demonstration site on their property.
Here we share what’s happening with the project, and Andrew Fairney from Seeding Natives explains how and where native grasses can be established.
This project is being delivered by the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board in partnership with the Department of Primary Industries and Regions. This Local Economic Recovery project is jointly funded by the South Australian and Australian Governments under the National Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
