It really doesn't matter a fig whether Natsuho Murata 'won' or 'came last'. She is and will always be a phenomenal violinist and musician and this is merely an indictment of the ethics of competitions whereby those that stand in judgement are at best irrelevant. The judges themselves, are incapable of performing to her level .... ever! That being the case they are not qualified or competent in recognising what Natsuho and the few others have. At best competitions serve to showcase genuine talent in enabling the masses to respond and enjoy what artists like Natsuho Murata and Himari Yoshimura and others gift to the world. Their sheer talent and genius will do the rest.

夏帆ガンバレ!1回や2回の大会で思うようにいかなかったからと気を落とすな。君の未来には無限の可能性が開かれているぞ! I have been watching the growth of Natsuho Murata and Himari Yoshimura since the Russian Games. And I'm just amazed at the rapid growth of Himari Yoshimura. On the other hand, speaking only in this video, Natsuho Murata's performance did not show the confident shine of the Canadian and Australian games. Was it too conscious of the performance without mistakes and not being bold? She put a lot of work into this Menuhin Competition, so I'm very sorry as a fan.

As a great fan of Natsuho, I think the poor quality and sound of the video is the reason she didn't make it to the next round. The clock is also only half visible.I find it incomprehensible that her technical team was able to send the poor video recording, also how she appears in the picture, to the Menuhin competition. Many participants probably use a good sound engineer to hear the echo in the recordings. Natsuho has performed well, she has an innate musicality that can be heard well in Telemann's performance and she is able to play virtuoso without negating the musicality. As a big fan, I will continue to follow her further musical career with interest and hope that this disappointing recording will keep her motivated. Natsuho you are and remain a little genius you are the best, maybe the best sound engineer and video editor wins.👏

Totally agree with you. The audio quality might not make a fair judgement to her performance as it does not have a very clear sound as other competitors. As a fan of her we all clearly know that her violin techniques and musicality are both virtuosos. (Personally i love her Kreisler the most in this video.) Natsuho if you see this, plz don't feel too disappointed and we will keep supporting you in the future!

I agree with you. This talented young lady does not deserve this poor quality video. The sound lacks vitality with little echo components and more importantly the resonating sound from the body of the instrument. Also, high frequencies are cut off at 16kHz. It seems the video was uploaded in the mp4 format with video and audio interleaved in a single file rather than in a container with two separate files.

I agree the video wasn't what it should have been, but there were some mistakes too. You can be the most musical of them all but if you do those small mistakes you are out, that is the harsh reality. And a big reason why I am not a fan of competitions. I want to hear the music that goes to my heart, an imperfect bowing here and a note slightly out of tune there isn't important for conveying emotions, which is what the music is all about. But competitions focus very much on technical aspects. I continue to be a big fan of young ms Murata - she has a special style which touches me every time.

Just a shame that a clock technicality could discredit her spectacular talent! This competition should have been held on location non-virtually the way it was designed and intended, to discern most accurately between such highly skilled musicians.

why her video seems to be recorded in 2001, instead of 2021. I mean, only the recording technique in 20 yrs ago can record a video as poor as this one. Of course her performance is good, I just couldn't understand why her parents or teacher allowed this video to be upload as her competition video, which may highly affected her ranking.

Have you guys checked out Simon Zhu from the senior division? Just an unsolicited recommendation well worth viewing from a huge fan of Natsuho!
This year's competition was a huge disappointment. Is this a competition of musicality? Or is it a competition of sound technology? All things are not equal. Certainly the recording level of Natsuho was inferior. But her musicianship is as good as ever, and Natsuho's true value can only be seen when she plays in front of an audience. Telemann at the end was fantastic!

I think she didn't make it to the next round because it looks like she's using sheet music during her whole performance... which is not allowed.
With all respect, the quality of the video might not be very high, but it doesn't seem to sound so bad as to make the assessment of the performance difficult. Is it?
The winner of this competition is for me nothing. The judges stroked the surface and never perceive her musical energy. Nowadays there isn't more decent listener so that they couldn't understand what the music is but only the technique.
