Invigorating Body Scrub (makes ~ 1 1/2 - 2 cups)
Ingredients:
• ½ cup organic rolled oats
• ½ cup organic coffee grounds (preferably fresh)
• ½ cup Epsom salt (can sub pink salt)
• 1 cup coconut oil, softened
• 6-10 drops peppermint essential oil (can sub 1 tsp peppermint extract)
Directions:
1. Add oats to a food processor or spice grinder and process until roughly ground (not quite a flour consistency).
2. Add oats, coffee grounds, Epsom salt, coconut oil, and extracts to a bowl and mix until combined.
3. Scoop into a small glass ball jar with a tight-fitting lid.
Soothing Toner (makes ~ 6 ounces)
Ingredients:
• 1 cup distilled water
• 4 TB chamomile flowers
• 2 TB coconut water (sub rose water)
• 2 TB pure aloe vera juice (nothing added, available at Trader Joe’s)
• 2-3 drops lavender essential oil (can sub Roman chamomile, rose, tea tree, or a combination if desired)
Directions:
1. Heat the water and add chamomile flowers and steep for 5 minutes. Strain and cool.
2. Add remaining ingredients and stir. Add mixture to a clean spray bottle and store in fridge for an instant refreshing toner. Toner will keep in fridge for up to one week, or freezer for up to 3 months.
Beginner’s Hydrating Moisturizer (makes ~ 1 cup)
Ingredients:
• 8 oz. shea butter
• 1 ½ oz. carrier oil (safflower, jojoba, almond, etc.)
• 10-15 drops essential oil of choice (can omit for fragrance-free version)
• 1 TB arrowroot powder
• pure aloe vera juice (can sub distilled water, rose water or herbal tea), as needed for consistency.
Directions:
1. Place shea butter in a glass bowl and using a hand mixer or immersion blender, slowly add in carrier oil. Blend until smooth. Stir in essential oil and arrowroot powder. Add aloe (or distilled water , rose water or tea), if needed for consistency.
2. Scoop your lotion into a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid and store in cool dry place. If you live in a hot climate, store in the fridge for up to 6 months (one month if you’ve used aloe vera).
3. To use your cream, simply place a small dollop on dry skin and rub in to absorb. This is best done after exfoliation and using your soothing toner.
