Excellent video. I and many others preached prescribed fire but no body particularly our congress to give more funds for fire management .

Well said and thank you for making the video. Nature should not be interrupted, nor should we interfere with the natural processes. Question though is how to we - A. educate the public to change 100 years of Smokey the bear ideology and B. For the areas that haven't burned in a century, how do we fix it? Do we allow high intensity fires to burn and wait 20 years for the forest to grow back or do we clear the underbrush and start with low intensity fires?

Great questions. A) Not sure how exactly to educate the public at scale to change the 100 years of Smokey's 'all fires are bad' rhetoric. We're doing our part, hopefully, with videos like this. What are your thoughts? B) For the areas that haven't burned in a long time, we need a system for identifying the top priorities zones for risk to communities and natural resources, then quickly make a plan to implement forest resilience treatments. I think a good gage of what treatments should be used are such that bring the forest structure more closely to the Historic Range of variability --that is, the forest structure that evolved under the presence of natural fire.
