lol, there are so many ignorant commenters who dont know the first thing abt 4c hair....her hair has some length to it, that length is gonna weigh the hair itself down and make the curls slightly more apparent. everyone's hair journey is different, so for a number of reasons maybe you all are used to something else from 4c hair, but my hair is mostly 4c and when it started to pick up in length, i noticed that it started to look more like this in places bc my hair was finally gaining some hang time. that was my experience. this is normal and it's even more likely when the hair is properly moisturized. anyways, she said it's 4c AND 4b, and that's what it looks like to me. plus the girl's hair is wet, which adds to the weight. one of the most annoying things about the natural hair community is that everybody wants to tell everyone else what's on THEIR head, without actually taking the time to open their minds and maybe consider that there's more to a particular hair type than whatever they've stereotyped it as (in this case, dry short and brittle probably). simply put, she knows her hair more than you do.

***** Thanks, girl! But I can't get mad at the comments, from the clips of the video they see, I can see why they'll think my hair is a different texture than what it really is, but hey like you said I know what's on my head lol.

***** Exactly, she is my hair twin. When my hair was shorter it didn't have those spirals when clumped but now that is BSL it does. Also now that I've been natural for almost 4 years my hair maintains moisture better than it did when I was first starting out, another reason for the coils. But it is still dense and tightly curled at the roots.. for sure 4C.

+donteishere7 Naturalme4c hair is longer than hers and her hair still don't look like that. I've seen waist length 4c hair and again not all are the same but none of them look like 4a curls. Just like 4a curls arent going to look like 3c curls when they are weighed down.
@sailormood
9 жыл бұрын
Jamie Ambrose those examples just further proved the diversity of 4c hair and that there's more factors than just one when it comes to hair type (texture, porosity, length). 4c hair is not a monolith where everyone has the exact same qualities. Also, hair typing is an imperfect system and shouldn't be seen as the end all be all to understanding natural hair anyways. I know for a fact that i cant do to my hair what a lot of 4c girls on here do to there's and expect the same results just bc we're both 4c. It just doesn't account for any other kinds of differences.
@starryrih
9 жыл бұрын
I understand that there is more to hair typing, but I am talking strictly about curl pattern. She has 4a curls. 4a curls are tight s curls, as the girl in the video has. 4c hair does not have s curls no matter what other factors come in to place. 4c hair has a z pattern and way more shrikage than the girl in the video. I've never once seen a 4c girl with hair like hers. Even waist length 4c hair isn't gonna look like 4a curls. Yes the curl may be more apparent but its still not gonna look like a 4a curl.

Why are y'all so stressed about a hair type? Either try her wash and go method or don't but fighting/calling names and just being disrespectful over hair that isn't even growing from your head is dumb. If someone on the internet calls their hair 4b/4c it literally does not affect you in anyway. And FYI "Hair types" are completely made up. You think all curly hair falls into 1 of 6 categories? You can literally have 20 people with "4c" hair and no two heads will be the same.

I have 4C hair and I love to wash and go. But my idea of washing and going is being able to walk out the door 20 minutes after washing. Your hair is absolutely beautiful, but maybe this video should be retitled Curl Definition for 4C hair. because if it it takes you HOURS to get a style then you aren't really washing and going. Could video though. I am going to try this out when I don't have anything else to do. ;)

Every time a natural has nice type for hair, people always try to down play it act deny that the hair's true texture, claiming it to be a looser curl pattern because of course 4b/4c hair can't look that nice and healthy! Smh.

I never like to argue about what someone calls their hair, but I do notice a lot of people calling themselves 4c do not realize or discuss that type/curl pattern is not the same as hair texture. Many times they have a cottony/spongy texture, very dense hair, low porosity, and don't have enough moisture in their hair; it always is dry, frizzy, and shrunken, so they call it tight curls "4c". A silky, thready, or wiry 4b does not look like a cottony or spongy 4b which is basically how the 4c category came about. Once people realize that one label barely touches all the variances of what hair is doing, then we can just focus on sharing techniques without labeling, or at least label appropriately. :) for me, my hair has so much going on with mixes of patterns, textures, densities, porosities...I had to let labels go and just focus on what I want and what my hair likes.

the reason why a 4c girl would care if someone says they are 4c and they aren't is because someone who may be dealing with curl envy and are actively trying to accept their hair will see this and be further confused. I have 4a hair and i understand cause I feel the same way when a 3b person says they have 4a hair...your misleading me to believe my hair can look like yours and it cant.

Like just when i think i know the difference i see someone categorized as 4c but with hair looking like 4a, then someone with 4B looking like 4 i dunno... Like the only dfference i see with the different types is thickness and dryness. All the darn curls looks the same XD Anyways, haha... Maybe i'll know for sure what my hair type is after i BC. So is there a night routine to maintain natural curly hair after a wash n go so that you can wear it longer? Because my hair looks great when I do a wash n go, but the next day it is terrible. Is it meant to last or do you just repeat the same process every single day? Help, lol.
@amaterasu777
9 жыл бұрын
Lynda Burns Hale naw you can't do it every day lol. I don't know what Kagler in College does, but to maintain my wash and go I make two low ponytails, sometimes three spending on how I want my hair to fall. (It's too short to pineapple, and even if it wasn't, a pineapple would have it all trying to fall upwards and it would look weird.) The two low ponytails keep it from getting super tangled and also stretch it so it's not super shrunk the next day. You then need to use a moisturizer the next day to reactive the curls. I use a leave-in conditioner or hair milk to moisturize it the next day because I don't mind a little frizz, but a lot of naturalistas reactivate their curls with water or aloe vera juice in a spray bottle. I usually wear mine like 2-3 days before I wash it again.

I hate how people always have some to comment about 4c hair and don't know not one thing. How you gone tell her what her hair type is 😂😂😂 like I have 4b/4c hair and as it grows longer the curl patter of it loosens. Y'all natural nazis need to cool it!
