Exactly, notice how both of them have emphasized how we dont need all these store bought products. This lady focuses on simply maintaining the pH balance of her hair and scalp by using ACV and aloe vera. And 22nd century has vinegar as one of the ingredients in her conditioner. Theres something to be learned here.......pH balance is the most important thing in hair care. Whats crazy is how ACV and aloe vera have the exact same pH level of 4.5-5.5 that our hair and scalp thrives on. Even naptural85 has stuck to using aloe vera in her hair regularly. This should tell us something. I personally will embark on maintaining the pH of my scalp and hair using this lady's routine. I hope to reach waist length in the next 1 year 6 months
@simpleeye7950

Chi Mei Yea Ph balance is really important, I've noticed that too. I make sure my shampoos are ph balanced, but my hair unfortunately does not care for aloe 😩. I may revisit it and try mixing it with water in the future, but it seems to no-likey, lol. The thing with 22nd Century is her shampoo bars are actually not ph-balanced. They are actually alkaline. Her scalp may not mind it since she also uses acidifiers, and the soap really clears her follicles which facilitates growth. My scalp seems to like ph balanced clarifying shampoos and castor oil so this is what I personally use. I don't need to really shampoo the heck out of my hair though since my products are very minimal (castor oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, occasional grease, kinky curly knot today) and don't ever use silicones (unless I use a reconstructor which is not very frequent at all).

I love that you never had a perm although you went through your own hair journey with weaves. Many Black women have had to endure the trauma of burning scalps and the horrible perm smell! I have three daughters and I tell them often how beautiful their hair is. I have no intentions of perming their hair and I pray when they become adults they don't perm their hair.

I went natural 10 years ago because I have three daughters and my oldest wanted a relaxer to be like me. I told her I would be natural to be like her. Now my oldest is 17 and she has never had a relaxer or ever even asked for one. Neither have my other two daughters. They don't even want their hair straight lol. I LOVE that they have had this experience growing up.

cynthiaholland13 That's amazing that you have daughters who have not ever had a relaxer! I'm excited for me niece since she will be the first girl in my family to be raised like this. I got a perm all my school years K-12, age 6-18. My mom took great care of my hair as it still grew between hip and tailbone length, but when I got in middle school/high school and started doing my own hair it broke off sooooo bad. I had very damaged neck-length hair at high school graduation and very soon after decided to stop getting perms for good. Been relaxer free for almost 16 years now and it feels good. I've definitely had set backs along the way, 3 big chops, 1 mini one, reached waist length 3 times, but I love it. I've been experimenting a lot lately using fewer products and different techniques, and Im now aiming for tailbone length. I'm currently BSL and am confident that I can get there pretty fast.

Apologies in advance: 1.) Did you twist from the day you did your last big chop? 2.) It’s been 9-10 yrs since you started Did you always have long/fast growing hair in your youth? 3.) Did you wear your hair up then as well in the early days of your journey when it was shorter? 4.) How long was your hair when your originally started wearing twists? I’m also a fellow stylist turned nurse and a toddler mom w/ natural hair, but your progress is truly unprecedented. I love the scientific approach to hair using natural ingredients and your no nonsense approach is quite remarkable indeed. We know you’re super busy so thanks for the detailed info and taking time.

Thank you for taking the time out to answer our questions! Much appreciated. 1. So when you started your hair journey did you big chop after transitioning from heat damage or did you not cut it off and just let it grow out? 2. Once you got rid of all the heat damage how long was your hair at that point and what year was this? 3. Do you have areas on your head where the growth rate is slower than others? 4. Is all of your hair at the same length for the most part? 5. Is your nape area shorter or the same length as the rest of your hair? 6. Are you open to showing photos of your hair at different stages? 7. Do you find that the longer your hair gets the thinner the ends look or does all of your hair from root to tip have the same thickness? I’m asking these detailed questions just so I can get an estimate or time frame of how long it took you to get to where you are now. The Q&A series would be great!!

How long have you been wearing the twists as a style? I just started wearing mine in twists due to not retaining length and plan to keep them in like yourself. I told myself for a year at least. My hair is fine and curly and I used to have locs and they grew so long and healthy. So, I plan to treat my twists like the locs and just leave them alone, but of course retwist when needed so they don’t loc up. Thanks for your videos and for the info.

I like the method you use to grow your hair first of all, I can see why you have been successful.....but my concern is if I were to do this method, I would worry about having permanent parts in my head which would seem to be difficult to deal with when I wanted to wear my hair out occasionally....does your hair have permanent parts from constantly wearing your hair in the same twists?

Has your hair always been “long”. I heard you mention your hair was collarbone length but it was broken off. What is the longest your hair was before you started the natural journey?

Did you do your twist on stretched hair? If so how did you stretch it?

Do you deep condition with a steamer or do hot oil treatments? What can you suggest for someone who wants thicker fuller hair? And how often do u redo/touch up ur twists?
@IndigenousStrandz11
6 жыл бұрын
no i do not do either. first u need to determine what state/ condition your hair is currently in, in my opinion moisture is key because with moisture comes less breakage and less breakage becomes fuller healthy hair which then becomes long hair its a process and you can reach that goal just stick with it and find the things your hair love the more natural your products the better

@@DK-qj7cr Yeah I think she did change it to Strandz because it was Standz before. Maybe it was a typo and she corrected it.
