Most of what you said went over my head, But, I know exactly what you're talking about. Years ago I stopped 'lathering' up and only use soap on 2 spots :) Then, if that were not bad enough whether or not I shower depends on how active I've been. My skin (all over) glows. I started eating healthier and was attributing the changes to my diet obviously it's a combination of the 2. Thanks for these videos.

Ava - Thanks for the feedback! I'm always trying to fine-tune the information that I share so people get the most out of my videos. I'll keep making adjustments. In the meantime, if you have a specific question about the vid, I am more than happy to answer. Yes, overwashing is a "thing" and can cause challenges for both NMF as well as the oily lipids that hold in moisture.

As always great video! Thanks My 10yo daughter has dozens of milla bumps on her forehead. They do not go away. Any suggestions please? Ps. Your production quality is exceptional.

Hi Danielle, I haven't seen any great cosmetic solution for milia. I'd definitely go see a medical doctor because, as you mentioned, milia is difficult to treat and the best treatment is generally decided on a case by case basis. I know treatments include things like extraction (removal), tretinoin, oral minocycline, CO2 laser resurfacing, etc. I also know the outcome of those treatments vary, with some only serving as temporary solutions. There may not be a medical consensus on the best treatment, though you'd need to visit an md to find out. Good luck! If I see anything of value, I know to reach out to you. ❤️

Uwoow I just knew that UV can reduce NMF. But still you need some sun to get enough vitamin D. Waiting for next video on NMF. 😘

Hey Tina! It's true. You do need some sun to produce vitamin D. There is a big debate right now about whether sunscreen prevents vitamin-D synthesis, especially in folks with deeply pigmented skin. Though sunscreen does reduce UV, it does not block it completely, so you still can absorb UV. The whole subject matter is really cool! Hope you're doing well!

I want more NMF! What happens when you use exfoliators on your face? I use a peach scrub everyday because it feels good. Is that a good idea?

I am interested to learn more! I also use an Oil of Olay face wash. Have a nice time with your family!

Exfoliation is just the removal of dead skin cells to make room for new skin. If your using a scrub and it works fine, wonderful! Just a heads up though, they can provoke irritation if you use them too frequently! You can also consider a mild chemical exfoliant like gluconolactone or lactobionic acid. I really will try to do an episode on this. There is so much to say on the topic.

Thanks for the tips! I am not sure what those chemicals are. If you so a video on the topic I will be sure to watch it!

What happens to NMF in atopic eczema.
@Msbeautyphile
5 жыл бұрын
Hey Spitz, I'll dig in and do some more research, but my initial thoughts are that people with atopic eczema are more likely to have less or defective filaggrin, a protein that contributes to the strength and hydration of skin. Filaggrin degrades into the substances (free amino acids, pyrrolidine carboxylic acid , urocanic acid) that we know collectively as NMF. So if you have less/defective filaggrin, you are probably more likely to have a skin condition like eczema because you don't have enough of the substances that helps do things like maintain an acidic pH, decrease harmful bacteria, promote moisture, etc. However, this is only one reason of how eczema may impact NMF. I am sure there are more factors at play.

msbeautyphile You’re absolutely correct on that. I suffer from atopic eczema, and it’s a curse. Thank you for the response.

Some moisturizers will include some of the humectant components individually like urea and lactate.We're going to talk about ways to improve NMF so stay tuned :D
