Protect Your Tomato, Pepper, and Cucumber Plants with Natural Sprays

Producer;
As we approach the harvest season, it is crucial to maintain the health of our tomato, pepper, and cucumber plants. Frequent weather changes and sudden temperature fluctuations can encourage the growth of fungal diseases, which can significantly reduce yields or even destroy the plants. To prevent this, we must protect them through regular spraying with natural preparations.
I do not use chemical fungicides, opting instead for natural methods that do not affect the edibility of the fruits even during the fruiting phase. Milk is an effective natural fungicide that can help fight pathogens, fungi, and some insects that cannot digest lactose. To prepare the milk spray, mix 1 liter of milk with 9 liters of water for preventive spraying. If the plants are already diseased, a stronger concentration can be used.
The milk spray creates a thin protective layer on the plants, preventing the penetration of pathogens. While store-bought cow's milk can be used, raw milk (unpasteurized) gives the best results. I thoroughly treat my tomato plants with milk and also sprinkle it on cucumbers whose leaves have been eaten by insects to see if it helps.
Spraying pepper plants with milk helps young plants grow stronger and healthier. You can treat with milk several times during the season, alternating with baking soda sprayings. During the fruiting phase, spraying with chemical preparations is not recommended, and the plants are still susceptible to disease. It is a critical period, and baking soda can be a lifesaver.
To prepare the baking soda spray, dissolve 50 grams of baking soda in 10 liters of water. Baking soda is excellent against various fungal diseases, such as blight, powdery mildew, and leaf spot. It creates a protective film on the surface of plants, increasing the pH value and preventing the germination of fungal spores. It can also drive away pests like snails.
I regularly use baking soda to spray my tomatoes and other vegetables. It is a natural and safe method that can be used freely without affecting the edibility of the fruits. To maintain the health of your plants, spray with baking soda or milk alternately every 7 days.
