Thank you for your comment. My own Naturalization ceremony happened last March, a few months after the video I shot. It was terribly disappointing and uninspired. It took place in a Federal Court Room. No cameras were allowed, no cell phone, nothing to hold a memento of it. In the end one has to think: is the value of the moment in the ceremony or in the status as US citizen. It would be nice to have both but hey, what can you do about it? Good luck with your process

Was your ceremony in Brooklyn as opposed to this one at 26 Federal Plaza in NYC? If so, was it because you live in BK? Thanks!

Being a true American doesn't necessarily mean that you have to hate or despise you original homeland!! on the contrary I believe that you can love both but If a day come and had to chose which one's interest to put up front then of course it will be America

Who talked about hating or despising (that's a tautology) a country of origin? And who are you to define what is a true American, or what America is about? There was a time when immigrants changed their names and embraced the American heritage upon becoming citizens. Now, we're giving away citizenship to people who truly do not deserve it. Need I remind you that these people are taking an OATH. A citizenship, it's not an "a la carte" thing.

So what you were expecting him to do? flush it down the toilet when he hear the name! changing the name doesn't mean you forgot your mother land its just another way to adapt with your new country , till this moment you find Irish,Italians, polish and British Americans who proudly say that they have roots on these countries even though they were born in the US! at least this guy wasn't born here! and last time I checked my passport it said US Citizen so like it or not I will say whatever I want!
