This video demonstrates how I do the Interlock Vertical Join in the Navajo Style. I'm not Navajo, and this video isn't intended to replace a native Navajo or Dine` teacher. When I use the interlock join, I always begin my pick with the LEFT MOST weft. When My weft is traveling towards the right, it interlocks with at the next color change. When my weft is traveling to the left, it does not interlock, it weaves to the next color change and waits til the next pic to interlock. To avoid a ridge, I tug slightly on the non-interlock pick against the previous interlock to make these two wefts act as one, but not enough to pull in on my weaving.
