My fiance is in the Navy, I have a brother in the Air Force, and a brother in the Marines, I have a friend in the army, and also a father in law and brother in it too, I have Friends in Cost Guard, Navy Cadets, and National Guard, and I support all branches, and many more. All i care is that because of them we are free, it has nothing to do with who is better, we are a united country, everyone in every branch has a part to play. we are in the land of the free, because of the brave!

Yes, the uniforms have changed. No more dungaree's, summer whites or johnny cash's. These black and tan service uniforms have replaced the working white/black's. Blue digi's have replaced utilities (dungaree's) and in some cases coverall's. The dress uniforms however, have not changed.

People would be surprised, but if you want to be well equipped to handle marching in boot camp. Take up an instrument and do a band camp over the summer at your local schools. You get your "Attention," "Parade Rest," marching commands like left face, right face, about face, counts, pin wheels, and all that good stuff down. WHS 07-09 B-Phi-C

These are their active navy "peanut butter" uniforms they wear when they are not in their whites or dark attire for winter. They still wear the blue fatigue also. The have recently talked about doing away with the "blue" fatigue and going to more of a gray or something closer color as to what the army and marines wear.

I know this is an old post. In 2009/2010 the Navy fased out Utilities/Dungerees, Summer Whites, Winter Blues (Jonny Cash's) and brought in Black and Tans (peanut butters) and the NWU's (Digital Blue Camo's). The thought behind it was to make the navy more inline with the other branches of service. Also the black and tan uniform is worn with all ranks wearing collar devices w/ the exception of E1.

These are the newer Service Uniforms (also called "Peanut Butters"). Black pants/kahki shirts are Petty Officers and below and kahki pants/kahki shirts are Chiefs and above. I'm guessing by prison blues and bell bottoms you're referring to the Utilities, and they have been replaced with the NWUs (blue camo). They just changed this a few years ago, I believe.

As a current sailor, I agree with your old man about the NWU's (camo's), but I still prefer them to the old working uniforms (button-up shirt, dungarees, and ball cap). However, I disagree about the uniforms shown here (we call them "Peanut Butters" or NSU's). I would have loved to wear the old whites or blue service uniforms (Johnny Cash uniform), but it makes it much easier to distinguish Petty Officers from Chiefs and Officers; which any E-nothing will tell you is absolutely wonderful.

Eric, Yes the good old days. I came in 1992 in Orlando. We marched every where in those dungarees. Got "grinder reminder" from the blazing sun. Cadence callers we had were amazing. I enjoy a decent cadence but I prefer stealth mode. Our A-rock in '97 couldn't sing so the RDC called it for a few weeks but trained us directly for stealth mode. No better feeling than marching and hearing nothing but a click every other step all in unison. The RDC got tons of props on the street and we earned the drill flag so must have done something right.
