Had to look it up, not familiar with Navy ranks. I fast tracked it in the AF but it still took 4 years to pin on E-5 so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@@frankieb9444 Same here. I made MM2 (E5) in about 4, and that was considered incredibly quick.
My daughter is in the Navy with rank of E-5 been in for three years, she entered the Navy with a Bachelors degree, so the Navy brought her in as a E-3, she obtained two promotions within 3 years, its possible.

Michael ok so they don’t receive a commission. So the salute was just showing of mutual respect. Has nothing to do with military customs and courtesies. She’s taught to always return a salute so she did. He saluted her because he respects her. Nice gesture. Thanks for explaining. Learn something new every day.
