@@VicInNocal If Oden had stayed healthy, he was a beast when he played. There were no indications at the time that he was injury prone like with Bowie. You called it. Hindsight is 20/20. About 19 other GM's would have drafted Oden as well. I would have taken Olajuwon over Jordan, but the Blazers lost the coin flip. I wouldn't have touched Bowie. They could have played Jordan at SG, and Clyde at SF. He started out his career at SF, and he was 6'7". What has Durant done on his own, without the help of Steph, Klay, Draymond, and Steve Kerr? They were a better team without Durant because they moved the ball around more.

The 2000 Lakers were really tested throughout the Playoffs specifically this series. After the gained the 3-1 lead we assumed the Lakers would finish off the Blazers. But, give Portland credit for showing their heart led by Pippen and after losing games 5 and 6 the old problems were starting to come back during 1997-1999. We really questioned the Lakers resolve to really come back from adversity situations heading into Game 7 but the Lakers showed their armor although it took 3 quarters in GM7

I remember that game and growing up Rip City that was a painful game. I had graduated high school the year before and moved to the Portland area to go to school. I remember that game being on a weekend and a lot of us students went to the rec room to watch the game. Most of us had grown up in Oregon myself included. So most of us had been raised Blazers Maniacs. I remember how nearing the end of the game we had held a nice double digit lead. My friend and I were so convinced we would be in the NBA Finals they jumped into my arms. I also remember all of us feeling devastated at the end. It was almost as if someone in school had just died. Regardless of that experience good year or bad I’m forever Rip City. The 2019 WCF did hurt especially being swept by Golden State. But it didn’t sting quite as bad because at least they lost to the Raptors in the Finals.
