@@MoorshoI never understood this from Laker coaching and management perspective. Horry was more of a small forward anyhow. Del Harris was a terrible coach who never understood match ups. The Lakers traded Elden Campbell and Eddie Jones and for Rice and JR Reid. Dumb trade. Had the Lakers kept Campbell, he could have more easily matched up with Tim Duncan while Shaq was guarding Robinson or they could more easily switched off. While both Eddie and Kobe were 2 guards so was Ron Harper but when Phil Jackson paired up the big guards in Jordan and Harper it worked. Same for an older Harper and Kobe. So Eddie Jones and Kobe could have worked too. Horry would have been more effective as a SF and weak side help defender.

Mental Vs Physical matchup! Back when u could just enjoy the matchup and appreciate the game as a whole. I was never a huge Shaq fan, but he was great and unstoppable with the Lakers. He was always the biggest guy on the court and the most privileged player in the NBA, but boi did he love to abuse his power… he threw more elbows than an MMA fighter and the refs let him get away with manslaughter! Tim had such a great balanced game, and was one of the rare big men in that era that could actually shoot FT’s, witch made him great in the Playoffs. But what I loved about him was his mental toughness, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him flinch or loose control or play with emotions? He always knew how to control his energy and stay focused, that made me respect him. Even in big moments with all the pressure on, I’ve never seen him choke! (Duncan & KG were two of the Greatest PF and on my fav players list)

This sweep had big implications about the future of the nba. If lakers don’t get swept Phil Jackson’s doesn’t take over the next season and that early 2000s lakers three peat doesn’t happen. Also if the bulls owner doesn’t break the team in 1998 phill Jackson doesn’t start coaching again at least until 2001 due to the fact after the 1999 season he would have decided to take his a$$$ to Montana because he wanted to take one season off regardless. Now the funny thing the 2000 nba season would have been the implosion of Kobe vs Shaq because Phil wouldn’t have been the coach. Lakers fans should send a thank letter to the bulls owner since his decision of being cheap changed the fabric of the nba after 1998.
