Every time the Load management debate comes up, i am surprised that nobody ever talks about the most obvious solution. The off-season in the NBA is just way too long, no other international sport only plays half of the year, teams that dont make the playoffs have 6 months!! off and even the teams that make the finals still have 4 months off, while almost every other sport only has 2 months off and even then there are international tournaments every 2nd year which reduces it to 1 month. Just stretch out the NBA season and eliminate back to back games, the season should start in august and run till june, with 2 months off. The players will have a much more managable travel and rest schedule, the NBA can offer more games on TV and the total amount of games can stay at 82.

I love the idea, I just think the push back is the start of football season that’s why. Football dominates the late summer days and even though many people don’t watch the nba at the beginning, way less will if it’s in august. Plus baseball ends as well right when basketball begins in late October
@antonseoane9092

I have thought about that many times and I have come to think the reason such an obvious solution is not adopted is because the NBAPA will not agree to it. Its the only reason i can think of because it would be better in almost every way but i dont think players want to sacrifice having a long offseason to be with their family etc
@keithedwards8365

Whenever you catch yourself thinking of a solution that seems obvious and you ask yourself, why aren't they doing this? The answer every single time is money, EVERY SINGLE TIME.. the schedule is set up the way it is because of the TV deal that the NBA has and that is not going to change if it means they make one dollar less.. your idea is a smart and an obvious solution so it won't be done 😂😂😂😂

What was McMahon talking about Ben Simmons looked plenty athletic in both of these last 2 preseason games and if Ben doesn’t make the Allstar team this year I don’t think it will be because he’s not the same player. It seems like the media’s spent the last 2 years tearing him down and now they wanna down play his comeback so they can save face and not have to go back on past takes
@attentiontodetailinsports

What a stupid take on ben simmons, say what you want about it being pre-season but he has been easily the best player overall in both preseason games and he looks nothing like he did last year. Thats the whole point of everyone being excited because excluding those games last year he has been an elite player.

Absolute facts they just don’t wanna admit that they were wrong about him and didn’t know what he was going through so they’re gonna try to downplay him as long as possible I just hope Ben really turns it up and nets win a lot games then his comeback will be undeniable

@@desimondjones4521 well said, yeah I think because many guys are competing for spots on the roster, it always helps with hunger, the defense will get better over the season even if it looked awful in pre-season but I think knowing that cam johnson will come back and either cam or spence will be 6th man and the depth we have with lonnie and royce and dfs, then perhaps if harry giles stays healthy then the rest depending three of those guys were starters on other teams so I think the depth looks good, the issue is still rebounding, id say shooting too, but then again, ive watched simmons turn dario saric, and illosaova into sharp shooters with his pace and passing ability and spence and bridges look like snipers off the ball with simmons then you add cam johnson. we will have to see cant wait.

Load management and ring culture are joined at the hip. Teams manage aging stars because they want the best shot in the playoffs to win a ring. Fans and the media obsess over it. Team valuation shoots up when they become winners. People say they want to see stars playing more often on random Tuesday nights, but all their behavior says otherwise.

Do you know what is more demoralizing than seeing your favorite player is sitting out on your end of the back to back Mr. McMahon? Watching them turn into a B, and then C list player. All because they had season ending, or in my case career altering injuries. Injuries that could have been preventable if we’d given the human body more ample opportunities to recover. This isn’t the 70’s or 80’s anymore. We shouldn’t need players to kill themselves to be considered champion contenders, though we do appreciate those characters more who choose to. Please excuse my Math, but I need 28 games in a row from my stars. In my opinion, It’s on the other guys to help shoulder the load up to this point.
