A latest review of the evidence by world-leading scientists has revealed up to 45% of dementia cases could be prevented or delayed by addressing 14 health and lifestyle factors throughout our lives.
We are proud to have helped fund the third Lancet Commission on dementia prevention, intervention and care, which adds two new risk factors to the 12 previously recognised. The new risk factors are uncorrected vision loss and high cholesterol.
Whilst age and genetics remain the biggest risk factors for dementia, this news shows us there is a huge opportunity to stop dementia before it ever starts by keeping our brains healthy in early to mid-life.
