God bless Monte Kiffen and all he gave of himself to the game.

Glad that Rhule gets his way with grass fields. Outside of the obvious benefit to player safety, as a spectator a well maintained grass field just looks a lot nicer than turf.

Your comments on roster limits reminds me of the post-game interview with the Bobfather after we'd beaten Army at West Point 77-7 in 1972. He was asked why he'd run up the score, to which he replied, "don't blame me. Blame the NCAA. They said I can only bring 60 players on the road. I'd played everyone on the team by halftime."

Halftime of NU OU game after Osborne spoke to the team in his quiet demeanor, Monte pick up a trash can and threw it at the defensive players. It got there attention and we ended up beating OU. GBR. Had a friend on the team.

If Nebraska is serious about a grass field, then they should seriously consider Zoysia grass. Zoysia grass can handle the punishment and it will choke out all weeds and will be like a very tough shag carpet that is also soft. Nebraska's climate is perfect for this grass. It turns yellow in the winter but maintains it's strength and cushion. We grew this grass in Iowa and it flourished. It's the perfect grass for football.

GRASS! Green carpet was a Big 8 surface. Field Turf is a Big XII surface. Grass is B1G.

The injuries have killed a lot of our recent seasons. The data has been so clear for long time. It’s amazing it took so long to make the switch.

I'm very fired and excited to hear real natural grass may grow once again in memorial stadium. It's Nebraska's football stadium. Everything else is secondary whether it's high school football games or concerts. And it seems like pretty much all players prefer grass over turf. I think the last year of grass was 1968?

Cardinal Stadium in Glendale is a grass field. They do Monster Jam, Supercross races, Taylor Swift & other artists have had multiple stadium tour shows there, among many other events they hold. Their field is unique, the whole field is on a retractable tray it actually moves from inside to outside the stadium. All the turf care & maintenance is done outside, then they move the field back into the stadium before use for games. Essentially they can use the stadium space for anything without damaging the field since it’s moved outside

that is not an option at memorial stadium

@@stefanmcclay3103 I wasn’t implying that they do anything like that. It’s not really an option especially with the new athletic/football facilities. My comment was more in response to the question of how they protect the grass fields when they hold various large events besides football. In which I always thought it was pretty unique/interesting in the way Cardinal Stadium was engineered with the retractable field

I would talk to tOSU and see how they did theirs. Their field, if I remember correctly, is below the water level of the Olentangy River. They have pumps and specialized soil. Then again, they have one of the best agronomy departments in the country.
