Bergen Reilly's significance to this team can't be overstated. Three kills, FIFTY-THREE assists, five digs, and an ace. Unreal.

Yes, they've got it made for the next 4 yrs with one of the best setters in the country. But, she DOES need to stop missing serves so much. She and Murray have been quite horrible all season, it actually looks like they're just being careless -- missing serves by A LOT, or in critical moments like right after the other team calls a time-out. Riley had 3 service errors, Murray had 7 this game. UNACCEPTABLE. And, SELFISH too... when one or 2 of your teammates have missed multiple serves, the rest of the team feels OBLIGATED to 'just get this serve in'. Usually, you worry about incoming Freshmen lacking confidence, but in the case of Riley and Murray, we might have to worry about them being OVERLY confident and cocky -- swelled heads and big ego's. I think coach Cook hinted at that in the way he talked about them early-on. I've been huge fans of both players, but it will be a real turnoff if they turn into head-cases.

@@djbenje4019 Murray is having some serious serving problems, but on multiple occasions over the last several weeks, Reilly has gone on important service runs. She only had three service errors this weekend, which is not bad, especially when they went with two aces and several points score on-serve. I'd argue she's doing just fine.

@@joebaumann6646 Murray's 'serving problems' are all about her attitude, NOT her ability. And trust me, there were several times when Riley either missed a serve on a critical point, or right after the opponents took a time-out (which is the ABSOLUTE WORST time to miss a serve), and she WASN'T EVEN CLOSE -- like straight into the middle of the net. That's just carelessness and lack of discipline. Like I said, big ego's, swelled heads, probably some lack of maturity as well. Trust me, volleyball has been a major part of my life since high school (am 50+ now). I know how things go when you're young, talented, enjoying super-star status/popularity/envy... I hope coach gives it to her straight... "If you can't get your serve in the court, I'm gonna let Batenhorst or Jurevicious play your spot from time to time."

@@djbenje4019 Putting either of those two into Murray's position would be absolutely insane. What a terrible take. Like I said: Reilly missed only three serves in nine sets. She is the first server so she serves the most. That's not a lot of misses for the massive returns the team got out of her being at the line.

@@joebaumann6646 Would it? Are Batenhorst and Jurevicious THAT incompetent at OH? No, in fact quite the opposite. And what's more insane? Giving your super-deep bench some play time? OR MISSING SEVEN (yes, SEVEN) serves in one 4-set match? THAT is insane. It might even be a school or NCAA record. Get it?

They kept their composure and stayed strong. They may not win them all but are displaying a tenacity to do what it takes to win. Go Huskers!

Beason and Reilly are the saving grace of this team against IU. Murray did great, but man those service errors nearly negated all her hits.

Very positive sign that Beason is much improved in hitting AROUND the block. That's really been her biggest weakness -- hitting straight into blocks. She has all the physical attributes to be a top-tier hitter in women's volleyball -- size, jump, reach, power, aggressiveness, athleticism... she just needs to sharpen-up her vision and awareness, she'll be a major beast. Same with Jackson.

Back to slow starts and too many service errors for the huskers. They are regressing and need to work on a lot of things this week before they head to Michigan.

@@crissanchez3639 Agreed. Even without Alick in the middle they still found a way. It shows how deep this team is and with the best defensive pairing in the NCAA as far as I'm concerned (and Boesiger is nothing to sneeze at either)... and a super young amazing setter who can hide who she's setting to. It opens up everything so that Murray, Beason and Jackson don't need to be super smart with their hits and can just crush it. Bergen is the one of the best setters I've ever seen in a Husker jersey and even better that she is still just a freshman. She adapts to her hitters like I haven't seen and makes the game so much easier for the team. I wouldn't say regressing... more like playing against veteran teams that have had years together and still beating them.

Considerations: The night before Indiana won in three sets , none a deuce game. Nebraska played five sets, four grueling close ones. Also understand Nebraska had some delays reaching Indianapolis and getting a good nights sleep. So a slow start understandable. Merritt is a steadying force, a good captain.
