Helping an old person across the street or saving a kitten is one thing...but giving free money to some dude trying to steal bread is idiotic. Give the thief a job at the store to help pay for the bread thus building trust with the store owner and teaching the reformed thief a skill would have been WAY better. Stores pay delivery services, who buy stuff in bulk so they can deliver it as-needed. The only people losing money when you steal from a store is the store itself. But you were advocating for looking the other way when someone steals rather than doing the right thing and paying for that person's grocery(ies). Stealing doesn't just harm big corporations it kills mom and pop shops, and even the workers at the big corporate stores as eventually they will shut down when losses from theft and insurance rate increases make it unprofitable to keep open in low income neighborhoods.

If everyone just stole from supermarket/shops because "if you see someone stealing food, no you didn't" they would go out of business. This would create huge problems for everyone.
