An update on the new designation for the Visitor with the bad feet.
"The NEFL team has decided to give the Visitor with the bad feed a temporary designation of 24E1 since he seems to have moved beyond visitor status. Going forward from this year we will use the following designation for any eagle that comes to the nest and moves beyond visitor status as this one has. The visitor will now be referred to as 24E1 - 24 for the year he arrived - E for eagle - 1 since he is the 1st eagle this season that appears to be a constant. Even though he was around last season - he was not as constant as he has been this year. AEF's policy is to only give a permanent name to an eagle that indicates a pair bond has been formed and the pair has eggs."
In this video, Gabby is on the wallenda branch enjoying the fading rays of the sunset when 24E1 flies in with vocals. She immediately flies to the nest and begins to aerate the nesting material. After a few minutes, 24E1 joins her on the nest- he moves a stick & Gabby works on moss & aerating. While she is busy working, he decides to lie down & test out the nest for comfort. It makes me wonder if this eagle had a mate previously and something happened to her.
Gabby flies off to look for a stick while 24E1 remains lying in the nest. Gabby flies in with a big stick and he offers to help with placement but Gabby said she got this! After a few minutes, Gabby flies off and 24E1 follows her. Beau has not been seen since Tuesday Sept 17th. Thank you for watching!
