Neil Sedaka is one of, if not thee most prolific song writers in music history. His golden record follows from the 50s' 60's and 70's. This also covers song that he himself never performed. One of which you be cover, Captain and Tennille's "Love Will Keep Us Together".

He is doing 'mini concerts' everyday here on KZitem since his is locked in. He still sounds as amazing as always; and very uplifting man. You might want to check his morning 'concerts' out. He's really a sweetheart. Amazing, Amazing songwriter! I remember when I was a kid (back in the 60's) My aunt would pick us in her convertible to drive through the mountains to visit family. I'd be asleep on the backseat listening to the radio as it got late listening to Neil Sedaka...good memories! He's been so in love with his wife, Leba, forever. A true love story.

1974 Neil was known by our parents for “Calendar girl” and “Breaking up is hard to do” with songs like “Jungle Boogie” Kool and the Gang”.. and “Radar Love” on the charts this song seemed out of date to some of us but talent wins out. If you did nothing but react to the top 100 songs of 1974 you would be amazed at the variety and talent...

Pronouced: Sa-dock-a. This was in the genre "Soft Rock", though most of us at the time called it "Romance Rock" for obvious reasons. If you haven't already check out Barry Manilow, Captain & Tenille ("Muskrat Love"), Donnie & Marie, Paul Anka, Air Supply, Tony Orlando & Dawn, Commodores, even an old timer of the time who is still around, Tony Bennett, all in that same genre.

This was Neil Sedaka's comeback hit in 1974 after signing up with Elton John's new record company called Rocket Records. Elton personally went to see Neil and as an enticement to get him to sign with the company, promised that Elton would record a single with him if he would sign. That single was called Bad Blood and hit #1 for three weeks in 1975. Elton did not share credits on the record even though he sang duet with Neil in the chorus of the song, giving Neil all the credits. If you liked this live version, you will love the original studio version which hit #1 on the Billboard Singles Chart. Other great songs by Neil are : Calendar Girl, Breaking Up Is Hard To Do (as well as his own cover version in the 70's, both versions hitting #1), Bad Blood, Love In The Shadows and more.

Great reaction to a song that means a lot to me. Thank you. Back in the late 60's I took my wife to be, to a show in London, and a Greek resaurant after. Being young and naieve, I got fleeced and had only enough money to get a couple of miles from home. It was pouring with rain and we were both wearing light Summer clothes and were soaked. We sang this song as we jumped in puddles, not caring at all. So much in love. Remember it like yesterday.

Every time I hear this song it takes me back to my freshman year in high school and the first guy I dated. We were taking a nice hand in hand walk one day and it just started pouring the rain. To my surprise I didn't care how my hair looked drenching wet. We were having too much fun laughing to care about that stuff. Oh the days of sweet innocence. I can't tell you how big I smiled when I saw you did a reaction to this song. So thank you sweet girl.

Just think - Neil graduated from Lincoln High School in Brooklyn in 1958. The next year Neil Diamond graduated from Lincoln High School along with sportscaster Marv Albert. There was also Hand Medress who was in The Tokens. He went on to produce some of Tony Orlando & Dawn's greatest hits. A few years earlier, actor Lou Gossett, Jr. also graduated from Lincoln! Just a bit of trivia - singer Eydie Gorme was a cousin of Neil Sedaka.

His last name is pronounced Sa-da-ka, all the vowels are short, not long. If you want a treat as to what a great song writer and arranger he was, check out the original "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" which is up from the 60's, then listen to his redo of it from the 80's. It is much slower. I live both versions. Laughter in the Rain is a great song too. All of his songs you can understand the words the first time you here them. Stay safe!! Keep up the reactions!!

Interesting thing about Neil Sedaka. He was a huge star in the 60s, and then fell out of favor. One of his biggest fans was Elton John. It was Elton who pushed and helped bring him back to relevance and he had another string of popularity in the 70s. Elton can be heard singing back up on the song "Bad Blood." Neil is still alive and performing!
