This performance is absolutely brilliant. I remember watching it on TV shortly after the concert in question at Madison Square Garden and being completely blown away by Neil Yong in particular. He showed an enthusiasm for both the tribute to Bob Dylan and the lyrics of the songs that were very moving. I think he was on home soil with the lyrics and that's what we saw. Anyway, I've been a big fan of Neil Young ever since and Bob Dylan's lyrics never cease to impress.

Steve Cropper, the guitarist dressed in black in white, does not receive enough recognition. He got his first big break with Booker T. and the M.G.’s. Besides backing Carla Thomas, Johnnie Taylor, and any others, he co-wrote and produced “Dock of the Bay” with Otis Redding. He was also the band leader for the Blues Brothers.

Neil played right after Sinead O’Connor …and just after Sinead was done ruining what was left of her career, good old Neil stepped on stage with his flannel shirt and torn jeans and Old Black and totally got the whole show back on track. I was 9 years old when I saw this for the first time (27 years ago…) and must of watched that VHS tape 867 times… Probably the reason why I play guitar today…

Wow! What memories! Same story here. I was 8-9 years old the first time that I saw the VHS (double one. I still have it) with my dad. This was the way that I was introduced to all these super musicians like Richie Havens, The Band, Ronnie Wood, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty and so on. And yes, it was the main reason that I started to play the guitar. Nowadays, I still playing the guitar and watching this concert, but today, with my daughter. This concert changed my life. Cheers from Chile.

"Celebs, Press Storm South Hackensack Motel Seeking Sinead O'Connor" (The Daily Voice, Cliffside Park-Edgewater, N.J., August 14, 2017; posted here 05/29/22) A superb news headline, even if its creator is unaware of its unsurpassed, unintentional absurdity. Finally, someone has come along who is capable of lowering the standards of a New Jersey hot-sheets motel to a previously unimaginable level of depravity.

Saw this on PBS in 95. Then saw it again on VH1. I also have the album. It was an amazing night. The actual date of the concert was October 21, 1992. Never understood why the solo number by Booker T & The MGs at the concert and on the video did not make the album. It was an instrumental version of Emotionally Yours. P.S. O Jays played that song in the concert. Booker T's solo tune was something else. It was Gotta Serve Somebody. There is a 2 set DVD or Blu Ray out since 2014 with outtakes and material left off the album.

I just watched the Dylan 30th year celebration series on cable. Sinead O’Connor had just shocked everyone (band mates included) by completely abandoning the game plan to sing an acapella version of Bob Marleys “War”. It was polarizing, with half the crowd booing, and the other half applauding her avant- garde improv (for lack of a “better” term). I don’t remember enjoying it although it was impressive. But when Neil and the MG’s played this, it saved the moment, and made the show, for me...

This followed Sinead O'Connor's performance where she was supposed to sing I Believe in You (find the outtake of her singing it in during practice - it's beautiful) but she was so stunned by the angry mob reaction of the audience that she knew a quiet ballad was not going to work. What was she supposed to do? She only rehearsed one song with the band. So she could run off the stage or she could sing something a capella without the band. She courageously chose the latter but it went well over the heads of the crowd and they berated her off the stage. All because she stood up against the Catholic Church for covering up the sexual abuse of children by its priests. People did not believe her at the time, but now we know she was right.
