What could be more Hendrix-ish than making crazy sounds in the middle of classic song? Well done Nels

Nels is a mind altering guitarist!!! However I wish they did this tribute without vocals. Jimi's vocals, though rarely mentioned by critics, was a soothing counterpoint to his incendiary guitar play. I would also like to compliment Jimi on his song writing, another talent of his, which is also takes a back seat to comments regarding his guitar. Thx for posting.

I can't believe this has only 252 likes. This has to be one of the greatest guitar performances ever recorded. A true tribute to Jimi, proving that he invented a large chunk of modern music, including experimental/noise music.

He’s a incredible jazz guitarist too. I saw him with Wilco years ago. And I’m starting to go back and listen to the later albums he played on. And also his earlier music and I really appreciate how broad his talent is.

Until seeing this video I had never seen anyone cover "Beginnings," among Hendrix's more obscure posthumous releases.. I believe I have heard someone cover "1983: A Merman I Shall Turn To Be." Early in the video Nels Cline even imitates Hendrix testing his tuning. I have known about Nels Cline, who usually plays jazz and fusion, since 1992. He is not a good singer, as this video shows, but he is a guitar god--as this video also shows.

The beginning to voodoo child was abysmal, but otherwise fantastic as always. Nels and Trevor always do it right together, never heard of the drummer but my god he kicks ass, him and Trevor held the whole thing together so well, perfect compliment to Nels' crazy and sporatic (in the best way) playing! Excellent.

It is a Magnatone/Panoramic stereo amplifier. The great tones and two chevrons in the bottom corner of the grille, right side facing the audience gives it away.

There are rig rundowns that show is upper pedal board. Notably are an 80s EHX 16 second delay. He was introduced to that by Bill Frisell and is a wizard with it. Also a Korg Kaoss pad, usually used by DJs.

Definitely has the essence if Hendrix but not the virtuosity I definitely give it to Nels though Good stuff 👍
