Nemophila and Lovebites are my number 1 bands (for different reasons).. Nemophila is very diverse.. excellent musicians, Mayu (vocals) is one of a kind..They will melt your face, and then turn around and melt your heart..They've recently lost Saki (guitarist on rhe right) to a solo career, but don't let that stop you..Check out their 4 member version of "Rise (evolve) "Back into the Wild"(evolve) and Crazy Nights ( Loudness cover) Haraguchi-san (5 string bass), and Tamu (drums) both the best of the best at their craft have stepped up their game to fill any void, and Hazuki is absolutely amazing on that Ibanez 7 string guitar..Nothing she can't do on s guitar.. Thanks for the reaction..Please check out past performances also.. "Raitei", (MV) "Adabana"(MV) "Sieze the Fate"(Live) and for a change of pace "Life" Studio Live w/lyrics (very special to them back in their beginnings, welcoming back Tamu (drums). She was on maternity leave, and they weren't sure of her return, plus it was Hazukis Birthday.. likewise a power ballad called "Odyssey".. sorry about the long winded comment..I just dont want them to be forgotten because they changed the lineup.. I felt the same when Lovebites finally picked Fami (amazing gifted bassist) reasurring their greatness would continue..

I just saw them live (in a small "live house" up here in Sapporo) a couple-three weeks ago, the first time I've seen the quartet version...and I'm happy to assure you their legacy is safe. Still the same absolutely magical live performance.

Oh man, you are now getting into it. Their OMVs are great too, and their covers are pretty fun. Mayu is the best rock lead vocalist in the planet.

Saw them live twice in SoCal and they were awesome. Great musicianship and they are extremely charismatic, smiling, eye contact with the crowd and animated. Check out "Zen" live for another thrashy track. They very versatile overall. All these "tiny" Japanese women are just more badass than the rest of us.

Yes! You have now completed my Top 5 essential J-rock bands! Pantera is one of their influences and they do a cover of them here on KZitem. They do AC/DC, System of a Down, Journey, and even Babymetal too! Check out "Dissension" OMV next!👊🤘

Thanks! THese ladies are my faves, they are very diverse and with some of their other projects/bands (Saki, guitar right, with her solo career; Hazuki, guitar left, with band Koiai/Li-sa-X Band) you get to see even more sides to their playing. You'll love "Adabana" and "Rise" also "Ama-Te-Ras" by Hazuki for a cool metal dance vibe. For something completely different, check out "A New Picture" by Koiai. A wild Prog-Djent-Cabaret-like mashup.

Agreed, re: "A New Picture," which is simply mind-blowing both in it's innovative composition AND the world-class (literally...) guitar shredding. Saki is getting pretty far into prog-metal territory with her new solo stuff, too. "Germinans" is an intricate, sophisticated composition which also features some elite shredding (and one of the very best drummers on the face of the earth, Senri Kapaguchi). I love this possible trend in prog-metal: greater focus on listenable, dynamic compositions and arrangements than is sometimes the norm in that sub-genre. Too much prog-metal has songs which pretty obviously exist solely as "backing tracks" for showing off musical chops but often sacrifice listenability and melodic nuance. More of what these women are doing, please!

NEMOPHILA is the name of a flower. It's not a Japanese word, but they pronounce it "neh-mo-fee-la." They play a variety of styles. For more Metal in this vein: OIRAN (the latest live version), RISE (OMV), RAITEI, DISSENTION (OMV). For something more melodic: ADABANA (OMV), MONSTERS, ODYSSEY , HYPNOSYS. Some of their great covers of other Japanese songs (bands) include: ONE NIGHT CARNIVAL (KISHIDAN), ROSIER (LUNA SEA), 金グラッチェ/GOLDEN GRAFFTY (ROTTENGRAFFTY. See also guitarist SAKI in her previous band, MARY'S BLOOD, in the MARIONETTE MV. And see the other guitarist, HAZUKI, playing with guitar prodigy LISA-X in their band KOIAI.

It makes a nice change to have the bass mixed nice and audible. Sadly, on a few tracks, Hara-chan gets a little buried under all the other layers of instruments, which is a shame as she's a fine player with great tone. Part of the joy of this band is how the members interact and clearly love what they do. They're also amazing as the new 4-piece configuration but, damn, I wish the whole Nemophila v1.0 unit was still together.

5:21 B-Drags sheds a tear over Mayu's last screming note!😂 Speaking of tears add "Life" to your Nemo list. BUT, hold off for a bit! Do a few more face melters and covers before you get into one of ther ballads. I think its best to get more familiar with them first for the maximum emotional impact of this song. I'll remind you!😂😁😇😎👊🤘
