"Neo-calvinism is a philosophy read into the Bible. It's not a theology derived from the Bible. It's a a philosophy read back into the Bible." - Dr Andy Woods

The tentacles of Calvinism infect most churches today especially with regard to assurance of salvation and eternal Security

The major problem I have with Calvanism is their idea that the Biblical "predestination' means in essence that God said 'eenie meenie minie mo ' and upon no basis whatsoever randomly chose those who would be saved and go to heaven and everybody else could just 'got to hell' with no choice in the matter...which makes GOD a monster unworthy of worship!

I'm so thankful for Dr. Andy Woods. Its been nearly two years since we've been deeply hurt by a Calvinist church that we joined during Coocoovid . We did not know they were reformed but after a few months we started hearing weird teachings from the pastor i.e. God chooses only a few elect, you really don't have freewill, God predetermined EVERYTHING that happens and there is NOTHING anyone can choose, including of course, to be saved!!! Etc Etc...we left the church due to their constant attempts to get us to embrace this false doctrines!! P.S. I'm a -100% Calvinist!

Calvinism has always been bad, both classical Calvinism and neo-Calvinism alike. Furthermore, even non-Calvinists are polluted by the Platonism in Augustine and Calvin.

Thank you, Pastor Andy, God bless you and the staff at SLBC for always bringing the Word. God bless Pastor Jim! Edit: this cuts off abruptly in mid sentence. I hope another one comes out that goes to the end of the teaching. I think some people are very confused about Calvinism, and they often use a ‘plug and play’ system with other names and ideas, lumping everything together into some ungainly blob. Then they go ‘bowling’ with it willy nilly, attacking random people for using a Bible verse in comments. I don’t know what to make of that; they don’t (or just won’t) converse if someone queries them about their vague comment. Well, something else not to worry about, I’m sure. But they’re out there. Everything else is too so I shouldn’t be surprised by anything.

Thanks for this series because Calvinism is so corrupting.

A 4 point Calvinist doesn't exist, depending on which point you leave out. An Ameraldian leaves out the L of the Tulip. Limited Atonement. An Arminian disagrees on the meaning of the 5th point of TULIP. Calvinism lies about the Perseverance of the Saints saying that if you persevere till you die then your saved. Nullifying OSAS. Arminians simply say, if you stop believing you lose your salvation. It's the same thing. There's no dichotomy between Calvinism and Arminianism. Besides, Arminius taught at a Calvinus school till the day he died.

I understand that Augustine was a Roman Catholic (priest, then bishop) and he championed doctrines such as baptismal regeneration, infant baptism, purgatory, the sacraments as channels of God's grace and the sacrificial nature of the Mass, and that he never “recanted” of any of these doctrines, and died believing every unbiblical thing the Catholic Church taught.

He was also with the gnostics before that which some of the Calvinist doctrine came directly from.

So I'm in a Calvinistic church and I've decided that I'm going to document how many times the pastor has to explain how the text we read in the Bible either doesn't mean what it actually says or it doesn't mean what we think it means. Either way implying that we cannot trust our own literacy to understand what it's trying to tell us. Really reminding me of the Catholic Church and how they kept the Bible away from average people, even chaining it to the pulpit and only reading it in Latin so noone knew what they were even saying.

Audio started out so loud and 'fuzzy' I had to turn down my speakers 75%. After a bit they adjusted the volume but still fuzzy. I suspect a bad mic.
