Dear artisan: you are thanking people for allowing you to make this video, and it's OK, but I want to thank you for explaining such kindly how neon signs are made. I've been wanting to know this for all my life and it turns out to be as delightful to watch as I had thought it would.

One of the manual Crafts / Arts that soon will be forgotten. Or NOT? Colorful, Highly skilled glass work, artistic and technical at the same time. Also scary: 10000 Volts can break your heart... Literally. This is one of the crafts I would have liked to learn - if I were younger.

Since I was a small child I was always fascinated by neon signs / neon art. I always wished I could have my own neon sign but as a kid getting my own neon was way out of reach. Over the years since then I have collected a few true glass neon signs. True glass neon is so much livelier and so much nicer than the fake imitation LED "neon" that has become popular these days. I do envy your skill and abilities in creating neon signs/art. I would love to learn how to build my own glass neon signs. Watching this video is very inspiring. It also reflects the years upon years of knowledge and skill that can only be acquired via hard work and devotion.

This guy is a proper talented neon bender, not many left now. This Industry is being taken over by faux neon and led lights which just don't look the same as real neon. L.e.d.s just aint a patch on a real neon sign and you don't need any special talent to make one. But for real neon with it's bright and strong colours you need talent and patience to learn the process. It aint easy to learn and not many are given the chance. Iv'e seen many people give up after a year or so and must admit it took me six years to become good at all the different skills involved and 10years to be very confident at it. So why would you bother these days when any idiot can stick an L.E.D. down... and lets face it lot's of people are confusing this medium with Led, rope light, or even EL wire.. all faux neon products that will not supply you with any ambiance and certainly won't light a room up with them. real neon is still king and can be fully recycled whereas the rest will be binned when they have had there short life. Buy a proper glass neon filled lights and you will have them for a lifetime... I personaly use them in every room in my house and I never buy new bulbs. They haven't been replaced in over 16 years. You never see any body bragging about having a led sign that they have had for many years, passed down thru the family from the previous generation because they end up in the bin after 6 months. NEON IS STILL THE BEST, thats why everyone is trying to imitate it.

fun thing is that this is the entire field of spectroscopy works. Different atoms emit different wavelengths of light when excited (electrified) from this we can determine the chemical composition of stars, the chemical composition of (some) planets orbiting other stars, and we can make cool signs as seen above! Blacklights emit UV light and the 'gas' used in them mercury vapor!

Wow what a great art. Always love seeing these in a malls or shops, gives me that 80s, 90s feel. Unfortunately we don;t see much of neon lights used in newer structures these days, LED has taken the spot for lighting. There will always be a spot for neon, as it's a long last art. Great video thank you, I learned a lot about this.
