Excellent preview of the printer. I ended up buying the 4 Pro. It's been great. I'm wondering if you could point to a tutorial on how setup the camera. Every one I found ends up with the webcam not working. Like the mjpg streamer is not running. I see that you have a different web interface setup too. Completely new to klipper and that whole armbian printer environment, but not completely new to pi-based systems. Just not having any success. Thanks again for the preview. It was very enlightening.

I appreciate videos like this that aren't actually reviews, but still tell me the majority of what I need to know about the machine. I've got 2 Vorons now, and a resin printer, so I'm not really in the market for a new machine, but I still find your videos entertaining and informative. I almost didn't watch this video, but I'm glad I did. I think I have a new default recommendation for a cheap printer for other people, and I'm really impressed at the state of the industry right now.

As you said armbian comes with limited wifi drivers preinstalled, but if you have to install networkmanager or something else to connect to wifi anyway, you could also take the step to install the wifi drivers for your chipset. Granted, I understand in the form of a quick tutorial that would make it quite a bit longer, but it could very well be an option.
@MandicReally

I was having trouble finding specific drivers for the ones I had, so providing a tutorial for that would make it way more complicated when I myself was having trouble finding them. If I did that it is a 100% certainty I’d have comment after comment of “I bought this $10 one on Amazon that doesn’t say what chipset it uses, which driver do I need? Do the work for me!” I have to think about the long term support that’s gonna continue to happen with these videos unfortunately. A good thought on a case by case basis though.

That is a good point to make, still a good remark that there are other options for those that know what they are. I will also add from personal experience that while most devices can be made to work, some need some pretty nasty workarounds. This device may have its own static address assigned, which means you will need to make sure your pc is on the same subnet (Google will be your friend here..) . The rest of the access steps will be accurate then. Alternately, use telnet and find its baud rate and com port. Use putty to access using this method is easier and more consistent in instructions.

The manufacturer seems to have chosen the marketing path for this model. Adjusting the table is good. A disposable heavy extruder is bad. Namely, the manufacturer made it disposable in pursuit of relief (unsuccessful, but more on that in the end). Gears are now original and unassembled, and it is impossible to buy them even in the official store)) The quality of the gears is not very good and, of course, they are NOT hot (like steel, not magnetic, it looks like stainless steel), so do not try to print composites. At the same time, the plate of the table carriage remained steel (aluminum would be 20 grams lighter and not worse). The nozzle heater is now also rare, in size 16*15*20 mm. So I still have to look for replacement socks. And the native sock crumbles after two weeks of work at 255 degrees. The LED on the extruder is cool, but I feel it will die because of working in extreme thermal mode. For the same reason, the inductive sensor of the auto-level of the table will also die. On Neptune 3, the same one died after several heats of the table to 85 degrees (the printer is in a passive thermal chamber). If you plan to print petg and abs, then buy a pair of spare NPN NC type. Do not try to find the original ones, they, like the gears, are also not in this store or in others)))) The nozzle radiator fan is now 3010 (instead of 4015), works at much higher speeds and will die sooner. Fortunately, if you file everything superfluous in the extruder, you can find a place for the cooler 4015. Super blowing is not needed, because there is no question about the quality of printing at the stated speeds, so we have 4 unnecessary 4020 snails. And I also decided to weigh the extruder assembly ... (in the advertising picture, the seller boasts of the extruder's weight of 291 grams, which is like a hundred grams less than Neptune3). And so. The extruder assembly actually weighs (!) 472 grams! In general, there will be no long-term high-quality work at the maximum declared temperature characteristics, there is also no need to wait for speeds, and it is better to buy Neptune3, which is much cheaper and more maintainable. The practical printing turned out to be somewhat better than I expected. The quality begins to be noticeably lost at speeds as much as 100 mm / s, which is very decent, despite all the jambs. The list of which I will probably continue. The z-axis guides moving along the screw axes have a backlash of 2 millimeters. It must be eliminated, while avoiding the rigid attachment of these guides. The system loads from 30 seconds to 3 minutes. The screen freezes very often when the buttons are pressed (usually for a couple of seconds, but sometimes up to 10 seconds). Occasionally, after pressing the buttons, the required action does not occur. It is impossible to press several different buttons in quick succession. There is no menu for setting jerks and accelerations, and what the manufacturer has screwed up by default, it's scary to think, given what he "calculated and projected" print speeds. We'll have to manage this from the slicer. An adjustable table is probably a good thing. but. 1. Two-stage calibration of the table at 121 points is too long, namely 10 minutes from start to restart to save the parameters (without a final reboot, the table map is not saved). About half a minute of this time is spent by the printer on unnecessary trips from the zero position to the same zero position. By the way, before printing, the printer also goes home twice for some reason. 2. the alignment interface is made completely incomprehensible. Visualized is not a logically obvious square of 11 × 11 points, but an incomprehensible rectangle of 6 × 11 points. the zero count on the z axis does not come from any particular angle and/or level, but floats all the time according to an incomprehensible algorithm and it takes a crazy amount of time to truly align the table! The first time it took me 5 hours of almost continuous attempts, the second time a few days later I managed in 3 hours. This is a procedure that should take 15 minutes! moreover, I understood the process of achieving the result very vaguely and, even having achieved success, I cannot explain it (which means I cannot repeat it quickly). It was only possible to understand that you need to turn in the corners where the value is minus counterclockwise, and where the value is positive - clockwise, but only in one corner and a little bit. By the way, the Z-offset is reset when calibrating the table and needs to be reconfigured too. 3. The heating of the table and the extruder has really become more efficient. However: If you change the calibration temperatures of the nozzle and table through the standard settings, then instead of calibration, the printer hangs tightly after heating. The settings of the preparatory temperatures of the table and the nozzle for the accelerated start of printing do not work here at all, since if you turn on the preheating of the table and the nozzle, then before printing the printer to turn on the heating of the table to the operating temperature... Attention!.. It will wait for the nozzle to cool down to 120 degrees)))) In general, compared to neptune3 pro, very ambivalent impressions. However, the disappointment from the shortcomings is gradually compensated by the fact that in fact the neptune 4 is about 1.5 times faster than the neptune 3 pro with the same print quality.

Thanks for this video. The WiFi dongle installation hack was particularly appreciated. I probably could have figured it out myself in an afternoon but it's great that you showed us how to do it. I hope Elegoo makes a 300 mm cube print volume version with Klipper, but adds an accelerometer so it can do input shaper calibration to maximize print speed and quality for each customer installation instead of some generic input shaper profile, and with WiFi because almost nobody uses a wired LAN connection in 2023. It'd be great if there was an optical filament run out sensor on the print head as well instead of that dangly bit next to the reel.
@B1GTOBACC0
Жыл бұрын
I wish these manufacturers would add the accelerometers to the hardware itself, instead of it being an additional expense. I wouldn't describe these printers as "crude klipper implementations," but I think these first high-speed cheapies are clearly "We were making this printer already, and added Klipper." Accelerometers are cheap and easily available, and it would be nice to get have "calibrate input shaping" as a built-in option. I also think getting the accelerometer closer to the nozzle (instead of "somewhere on the X-carriage") could make input shaping more precise.
@Liberty4Ever
Жыл бұрын
@@B1GTOBACC0 - I agree on all points. We're seeing some early commercial Klipper installations. Bambu put the accelerator on the print head and Creality copied them, which can do good input shaping on a core XY machine. Klipper on a lower priced bed slinger is a different proposition. The manufacturer is less likely to include an accelerometer, and a bed slinger needs an accelerometer on the extruder for X axis calibration and another accelerometer on the bed for Y axis calibration.

I dont need full controls, I just need a way to send the GCODE and start printing while sitting at my computer instead having to get up and bring a SD card. Thanks

I would love it if someone could help, how do I setup the camera? Its not showing anything in the fluidd browser page. What settings should I use?

Really appreciate the videos, i have a problem though with my Neptune 4 pro, i succeeded to connect to wifi but i have to turn it off to put it in another room and then it loses connection and has to be wired again. Is there a solution for the Neptune 4 pro to keep his wifi IP adress even when turned off?

All of those dongles sold out now. It's right that the dongle with Realtek 8192FM will be OK?

That's funny you mentioned not having an LTT lab, considering the recent controversy.

i personally don't care about wireless since mine is in my network closet so it's going to be wired anyway.... but another option is wifi Ethernet adapters (wifi bridge) as well and don't require any Linux configurations or even wiring it up first. these adapters are about $30+ on Amazon or cheaper elsewhere.

Thank you for a great video! Shouldn't we be able to just use an ethernet to wifi adopter? This way no need to mess with the OS? Printer just thinks it's connected to ethernet while computer is talking to it over the wifi interface?

First of all, hello, I have been having difficulty connecting a camera to the neptune 4 pro printer I have had for about a week, I wonder if you can shoot an information and installation stage video on how it is connected.

Can you compare Neptune 3 to Neptune 4. Can I save some money and still get a good printer with the Neptune 3? Thanks
@MandicReally
Жыл бұрын
If you aren't worried about speed, then yes you can save money and get the 3. The part cooling is better (not just the big auxliary cooler, but the part fans in the toolhead too), and the toolhead is lighter (smaller stepper motor) on the Neptune 4. But otherwise they are pretty similar machines. If you are fine with just printing and not worried about doing it faster, then the Neptune 3 Pro is a solid option.

@@MandicReally thank you. Does the Neptune 3 run Klipper?
@MandicReally
Жыл бұрын
@@HeikosGarage No it does not. It runs Marlin Firmware. You can convert it to Klipper yourself if you want (With a Raspberry Pi or other such items.). May cost about the same as a Neptune 4 then, but having better Wifi would be a plus of doing it yourself.

Do you think the neptune 4 could be better option than the new released creality ender-3 v3 SE? I'm fighting between Which one to purchase and get better and faster machine after be using ender 3 pro, I was planning to buy a p1p but budget is not enough for now so will sell one of my ender 3 pro and buy one of these 2 options, neptune or ender 3 v3 SE

How did you install mainsail for use on the neptune 4 pro. I do not have any experience with fluid, but I do with mainsail.

Alright. I just received my 4Pro. It's working great. One thing I can not figure out is the webcam section. I saw some threads online stating mainsail is required. Is there any other way to get the camera working with out switching to the mainsail UI?

What’s that pink/purple filament you have loaded on the printer while talking about it?

i'm wondering if it would be easier to just use a wifi extender with a ethernet port in it, would be able to run driverless or without changing any settings, and extenders arent much more expensive than dongles nowadays anyway :)

Can confirm that an old tp-link TL-WN722N also works as the wifi adapter

You just need a pair of plugged mains network links going back to your router , great if the printer is in a shed.

The fact it's ethernet is a plus for me, I recently installed ethernet in my workshop, and was able to finally hardwire my ender 3 running octoprint, so much less painful than wifi

Was that white thing on the bed a tgermal fuse? If thats true then props to elegoo. Thermal RunAway only protects from sensor based failures, if the mosfet failed in the closed position then good luck
